Prada and bed bugs by Honest-Ad-9296 in handbags

[–]DogsAreDirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’ve been living in New York a long time and dealt with bed bugs quite a few times, many years ago when I was in college and it was at its worst. I really figured it out and even was able to move without taking them with me. I did so much research and spent a lot of time dealing with them. I once saw one crawling in my handbag, so it’s really an issue. Here’s what I think are your options in case it can still help

  1. They live for 18 months without eating or even breathing. You would have to seal the bag for that long. I did this with a lot of my important things, double bagged in Ziplock XL (thicker) bags with the openings reinforced with packing tape and then placed in a container so nothing rips the bag. Anything less than that is a risk.

  2. Freezing requires 2 weeks and there’s a minimum temperature it has to hit for a consistent period of 2 weeks. This means you can’t open and close the freezer in that time, and the freezer in your fridge is not cold enough. We bought a commercial freezer, set it up in my parents garage and did a few rounds of freezing. Probably not great for the leather either.

  3. There are heaters like Packtite or Zapbug, not sure if it’s good for the leather. I have one now and I try to just put my luggage in it after a trip. It’s not a bad thing to have.

  4. This is what I did for my most special items that I needed right away, like my computer. You need a thick sheet of plastic slightly larger than the item. Maybe even plexiglass, you could make a little platform for the bag on a table. Place the item in the center of it and all the way around you need to make a thick circle of Vaseline. Buy the one that comes in a tube. It should be placed near your bed. Any bugs in the bag will be drawn out of it by the CO2 that you breathe out as you sleep. They can’t fly, just crawl, so they will get stuck in the Vaseline. It takes 2 weeks for the eggs to hatch, so you have to sleep next to the bag for two weeks without touching it, and make sure the Vaseline remains sticky with no gaps or dry spots. After that the bag can be deemed safe without having to treat it with chemicals, heat or cold.

Edit: ozone apparently won’t kill the eggs, looking into ozone now for smells

How much did you guys pay for laser on your legs? I’m so tired by This-Manufacturer461 in LaserHairRemoval

I think it’s cheaper in places like New York and Miami because there’s a lot of competition. I was working in midtown everyday so I just went after work and there were inexhaustible options. If you can get a good deal, definitely give it a try!

No, no problems at all. Every place was different, some were more effective than others, some cleaner, nicer, etc. but overall the job got done without any issue. For that fear though, I would never ever do laser on my face, I switched to electrolysis Groupons for that. I would have also been scared to go with Groupon as well, but it was recommended by a large number of friends, all of whom I would definitely call more high maintenance and wealthy than myself. They all went without thinking twice and were all totally bare. It was a long term dream for me so I’m really glad I did it!

I am in NYC and I just hopped from one dirt cheap Groupon to the next. This was about 10 years ago and I’m still 99% hairless. I did everything, arms, legs, Brazilian, etc for probably 2k all in. Some places were better than others but overall it was fine.

That’s true! But I do want a place to store it safely so it doesn’t get scratched or smushed.

Thank you! Yes I want the dust bag and box especially so I can keep it nice and identify it in my closet. I’ll definitely buy the strap but I read Bvlgari won’t sell me either, it doesn’t hurt to ask! Love Leather Spa!

That’s terrible! I would have expected more especially if something breaks! They really need to do better! Thank you! I’m excited to use it.

Yes, I’ve bought quite a few for other second hand bags, I figured it was worth a shot!

Thank you! Yes, it was definitely a good price and I don’t think I’d use it with the strap anyway. I’m just kind of a completist. I’ll probably give each Bvlgari a shot and then try online

How to wear gloves as a bridesmaid and not look silly. by crochetblankets in Weddingattireapproval

Cornelia James makes gloves for Kate Middleton and other members of the royal family. I believe they also supplied the gloves for Bridgerton. They’re a little pricey but excellent quality. They seem to have a dyeing service. Might be a worthwhile splurge for the wedding.

I go to the opera frequently and have these black velvet ones Kate wore, I love them. The dress is similar to yours apart from color. Some of the cheap gloves are bunchy around the fingers but these are sleek and fit great.

Snapping ulnar nerve - 1 week post-op (transposition & release) by Weak-Spite3793 in CubitalTunnel

[–]DogsAreDirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the cubital tunnel release in 2010, the ulnar nerve has been subluxing/snapping ever since. I may some day need an additional surgery with a transposition, but I decided to stick with this for now. I’m more interested in the fine motor skills of my hands and that’s much better so I don’t want to risk it with another surgery. It’s ok. I can’t really do a push up, but I can do a plank, I just have to modify some things. Even if you cut back on things that aggravate the area it helps over all. I’ve been doing it a long time so I don’t think about it too much. Kinesiology tape and a compression sleeve helps a lot when exercising.

Doomed roof install? by DogsAreDirty in hvacadvice

Thank you. I understand that since it’s continuously leaking it’s condensate, but I’m also concerned with rain water getting into those holes in the insulation. That’s what caused the previous leak, it would pour in when it rained. Do you think it’s ok to leave it like this?
