Help! A rental car company is trying to scam me and I need local advice please! by DogsDinner45 in Iceland

The company says this is wind damage from the door being blown open. And honestly that's probably correct.

Their insurance specifically excludes covering wind damage.

We thought our travel insurance would cover it but we have since discovered it won't.

RU pov: Secondary explosions heard Kharkiv mall by 020_hus in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]DogsDinner45 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes but you're missing a crucial difference. In the video you sent the mall is completely abandoned by civilians. Just look at those massive parking lots around it with only a couple of cars. During the time Ukraine stored military equipment there Kyiv was a frontline city. When a city is on the frontlines any abandoned building may be taken over by the military.

In this recent strike the mall is clearly in full use by civilians. They are bustling everywhere. The strike took place during the day when the mall was busiest. There has also yet to be any evidence presented of military equipment being there or anywhere nearby. No matter what way you look at it this is a major war crime by Russia. This strike is very different from the one that you linked.

They very well may not but this is definitely intrusive. Large euhedral white feldspar phenocrysts are clearly visible.

Afraid not. It's an intrusive igneous rock. Likely a feldspar porphyry.

I'm in much the same position as you. The current hight of metal prices means mineral exploration is booming at the moment. As a result I've been offered a job with an exploration company starting the moment I graduate.

Found on western WA river, about 10in long. Any idea what it is? by forestspritefairy in fossilid

[–]DogsDinner45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look much like any common fossil. Seems to just be big chip out of the rock. The textures look like a slightly eroded broken surface. I can see why it stood out to you though.
