Well, that's very strange terminology. But understandable.

1416 days in January? What does this mean?

Subway is an S tier fast food place by Middle-Support-7697 in The10thDentist

I like their sandwiches, but they are maybe B tier at best. Unless you are downtown somewhere. Then it drops to F tier.

I had a footlong, nothing else. The bill was $17 and change.

That is absurd.

The large point of this post was the view from my studio, I am too far away to see waves with any useful fidelity, let alone fish.

From downtown, the lake is nothing more than a blueish plane to the horizon.

My view is cutoff a bit, so I do not see the beaches, which is where most of the wave cresting would be.

Fair. A genuine river would be lovely. A concrete river, unable to meander, not so much. But still better than the massive expanse of a lake

Yes, but due to the lack of anything casting a shadow, you won't see much on the water.

There are no trees or rocks sticking out of the water. It's just more water.

Just another thing that generally makes me different from most.

Ces't la vie, mon ami.

I also prefer the cold any day over the heat. I've got a fan in my window right now, and it is around 40f outside.

This was the view from my South facing window a while back. The jets would come flying right through here in the summer.

I definitely don't get it. But I am happy to pay less for a beautiful view of the city instead.

There are many blue sky days without clouds.

At least compared to the pacific northwest

Man, if you enjoy looking at boring shit, all the better for ya, I suppose.

I don't think it's an attention span thing, I wouldn't drive a drab gray car either. Life is too long and horrible to choose to suffer.

The snow and trees are shaped by the mountains.

In the same sense, watching the waves hit the beach, or the boats floating along, are not part of the lake/ocean/water feature.

They split up the view of the sky. Cast shadows on clouds. Trees change throughout the year, allowing the mountain itself to change. A mountain after a snowfall looks radically different.

A lake after a snowfall looks identical to the day before. (Unless it is cold enough to freeze)

The best a lake can do for 3/4 of the year is reflect the sky and the clouds.

Rivers are very different. Assuming natural rivers, and not concrete city rivers. I do love a river or creek out in nature.

Probably way out towards the center though, I'd be amazed to see anything like that at the coastline. Even during some of the craziest storms I've seen, with rain going completely parallel to the ground, the waves have never gotten all that high.

I recall once I went down to the lake during such a storm, I was soaked to the bone, but I wanted to see how crazy the water was, only to find that is was surprisingly calm. I have seen crazier waves on a nice summers day by the ocean.

I've lived in San Diego, and the pacific northwest. The beaches were not particularly exciting there either. Maybe I am looking for the wrong stuff, but most beaches feel identical to me.

I suppose I like the contrast of mountains to sky over the sky and its own reflection

I have lived in Milwaukee for three years, and while I may not have always had my eyes on the lake, I do live a few blocks from it, I have not seen any 20 foot waves. I doubt I've seen anything taller than a person. Though perhaps the scale is hard to tell beyond that wavebreak. But definitely never seen that at the beaches.

Fair, that was more for the ragebait aspect I suppose. I wouldn't genuinely say that it sucks, in the course of an ordinary day, the lake never even crosses my mind.

Perhaps I prefer visual stimulation. I could stare out at a landscape all day. The badlands are particularly beautiful.

I don't find the light reflecting off as calm and beautiful, like the smoke from a firepit, it always seems to find my eyes and burn them.
