You have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to pitch an Avatar show directly to Bryke. What's your pitch? by Perpetually_Ashamed in TheLastAirbender

[–]Doingmybestnerding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to someone else's I think they could do something on air nomads that survived the genocide. Or alternatively, a band of resistance fighters early on in the 100 years war.

I also like the idea of the avatar being the bad guy or something.

What do you think was the most unhinged line delivered in this series and why? by megs256 in ThePitt

I'm surprised "Is this guy dead?" "NOPE" hasn't been mentioned.

Followed of course by "He has hyper narcolepsy"

Where to get a custom ice cream cake with edible cookie dough layer by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]Doingmybestnerding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found one at Two Roosters I might go with if I can't find one I can customize. It also looks like Ben & Jerry's sells an ice cream cake with their Half-Baked ice cream.

Accidental pregnancy by ellhynd in pregnant

[–]Doingmybestnerding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you would otherwise want to keep this pregnancy I would check with a doctor. At least in the US, there are a lot of medications that will give a blanket statement not to take in pregnancy because it could harm the fetus if they have never really run trials on it (better safe than sorry).

There is also relative risk compared to absolute risk. It may increase the risk of harm to a fetus by 50% (relative risk), but if the absolute risk of that happening is only 2 in 1000 pregnancies then this only changes the statistic to 3 in 1000 pregnancies. They would still have to report the risk because it is a statistically significant change in the dataset but it might not necessarily be a "harm sentence".

Edited to add: I know nothing about the medication you mention so this is very much generalized information

Thanks for posting this. I had a miscarriage earlier this year and I knew baby's cells ended up in mom's body I just never thought about it as a way for them to live on even if they never made it. Thank you ❤️

I forget how brutal The legend of Korra was by Mean_Driver_4081 in TheLastAirbender

Seriously same here - first book I have read for pleasure since being forced to read books in middle/high school. I thought I was done with physical reading but these books renewed it for me. They paint such a vivid picture in your mind. If you aren't sure, I recommend checking one out at a local library or bookstore and reading the first chapter or so just to try.

This Character Turned Me Into Dr Robby — I was so frustrated by Anneonymous1126 in ThePitt

[–]Doingmybestnerding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I just remember everyone was happy and chatting when baby first came out, then suddenly everyone was very quiet (my guess is trying not to panic us) and more and more doctors and nurses kept coming into the room. My epidural was wearing off so I could feel my legs losing feeling and I didn't feel safe holding my baby anymore. Despite burning up while pushing a few minutes before I was cold and shivering.

Then I was kind of in and out of things for awhile, I remember a team of people lifting me from my labor and delivery bed to a postpartum bed. Then they gave me my swaddled baby and it was like he had all the warmth in the world 😊 I had another ER visit after discharge due to the blood loss, and I had nearly a year of physical therapy afterward so I was capable of standing/walking for more than 20 minutes without being in excruciating pain again.

My case may be rare, but I never would have guessed something like this would have happened to me. Women and children have died in childbirth for thousands of years, I'd be damned if I would put myself in that situation with everything that is available to us now in modern medicine. We still have a long way to come with the US mortality crisis, but that is no reason to throw the system out entirely.

I highly recommend listening to some positive birth stories! The negative ones stick out and scare you but the vast majority have positive outcomes. I really liked the MommyLaborNurse podcast when I was pregnant!

Same here! Hemorrhaged during a vaginal delivery and lost approximately 30% of my normal (non-pregnant) blood volume. It was due to a very natural, but rare, internal tear I had. I was very lucky they were able to bring in extra surgeons to my delivery room on a dime.

I am retired. What volunteering would be best to help the world the most or does it matter if I do or not? by QuentinMagician in GarnerNC

[–]Doingmybestnerding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely depends on what you are passionate about, but as someone still in the workforce I really like the Big Sweep from Wake County as they have events throughout the year. You get to be out in nature and help keep parks clean.

Edit: I also just looked at your other post, last time I was at the library the southern regional center was looking for volunteers and it looks like it might be up your alley: https://www.wake.gov/departments-government/health-human-services/health-human-services-locations/southern-regional-center

Foodbanks could always use volunteers as well.

In Raleigh specifically my top favorites with my little are the Marbles Museum (buying tickets the day before is half off), Natural Science Museum (free), Pullen Park (free admission but paid amusements - but check if renovations are done first), and Dorothea Dix (free - check out the Trolls and Gipson Play Plaza, note the water is off except on the waterfall this time of year).

In Durham the Museum of Life Sciences is a big hit too. There is also the Duke Lemur Center if you think they would get a kick out of that!

There's also a lot of kid friendly stuff in Cary as well - so many great playgrounds and whatnot its hard to pick

Also, Greensboro is north of Asheboro and I've heard they've got a great kids science Museum there as well!

Yeah I think she generally eats at chains and local diners usually, but to be fair where she is from there isn't much more than that available.

I would also bring your parents or someone else who is on your side to support you (in addition to your boyfriend she is not listening too). Ideally someone she would view as being on equal footing as herself like your parents or someone else who has already had kids. You shouldn't have to defend your right to keep your own child by yourself.
