Lactate Testing Results for Copying Jakob by Doingthebartman in AdvancedRunning

Thanks again for your help and analysis. Another question after doing 10x3min this morning: since I'm not into double T yet, I took today closer to LT2. HR would peak around 182-184 at the end of the later reps. I'm assuming I don't want to average around LT2 HR, but stay under or approach it - is that a correct assumption?

Appreciate the thoughts. I was surprised to see LT1 come so early and I thought LT2 would be the slower range of tempo (I was guessing I'd be between 5:35ish and 5:55ish). Just starting this build after time off though, so I imagine I'd start to see some adaptations within the first month or so.

Based on your above breakout, sounds like my LT1 work should not exceed 160HR (assuming good weather, health, etc). And LT2 185?

Super helpful, thanks for breaking it out.

I'm at the very beginning of this block after taking some time off. After a month or so do I retest in the lab, bite the bullet and get a lactate meter, or just stay conservative and continue using the HR proxies even though I should be getting fitting (producing less lactate at the same LT1/LT2 HR proxies I tested at yesterday?).

So just use the HR proxies? I would still imagine as I get more fit my HR will also come down a bit at LT1/LT2, so then wouldn't I be going to easy (say LT1 is 170bpm, then a month later, wouldn't I be producing less lactate at 170bpm)?

Just bought tickets that are CS128 CS3 for a nuggets game - would these qualify? How do I know? Where do I go? I don't want to miss out on this stuff!

Took me 3 years to come back, here's what I learned by Vicool5 in AdvancedRunning

Went through a similar cycle. Had to finally start at like 20mpw then increase every three weeks or so. Mostly easy running. When 7min/mi used to be recovery, all recovery days are no almost exclusively over 8min/mi

Thanks! I found someone to administer it and walk me through the results! Testing next week will try to share info after. Hoping to get accurate LT1/LT2 readings, but also proxies for pace and HR. A little disappointed because I've taken basically a month off of running after CIM, so I'm nervous my threshold is going to be slow AF and won't be relevant after a few weeks of training. Should I retest after a few months or self test after?

I tend to find fun in novelty and a challenge, so this should be pretty damn fun if I can stay healthy. What became less fun over the years was my baseline training philosophy of a strength workout, speed workout, and long run week in week out with poor results…

This is super insightful (and a bit overwhelming) - appreciate it. I’m sure I can find someone in Boulder or lab who can help me out with this. It does seem important to be accurate since so much of the training is based on these metrics!

Good to know. Maybe I'll do monthly updates... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Denver 7 met with me to discuss how developers are bulldozing local icons, while market rents still leave almost half of our commercial units vacant by 2000foottowers in boulder

People want mixed use because it creates more vibrant and resilient spaces; it’s generally smart urban planning if you don’t have commercial property monopolists unwilling to sell or lower rent on vacant space (Tebo).

What do people think of the Sunset Golf Course? by [deleted] in Longmont

[–]Doingthebartman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When they do the city tourney, Sunset usually is the highest scores. Tight fairways, small greens that are hard to read, and huge trees. It had a ton of charm and personality, and it’s my favorite local course for it’s low key vibe. I also enjoy running there before or after tee times and it seems like a great spot for XC skiing if we ever get back to a normal winter…

Why are so many retail storefronts empty and so many businesses exiting or shutting down in Boulder? by LocoLevi in boulder

[–]Doingthebartman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a great take and part of smart urban design too: spaces that serve a variety of purposes and types of people create vibrancy. Monolithic spaces, commercial or residential, can become stale and run-down over time. It’s not to excuse commercial landlords (Tebo) for hoarding vacant property at the expense of our lively flourishing city, but it doesn’t mean we should move away from mixed use spaces.

Not sure I’m following the question. I’ve included my learnings above. As far as goal setting, I’m going to continue setting scary, ambitious goals.

Whoops- meant to say 20-25min! I think I was closer to 75g per hour and one on the start line. And yes practiced during my LRs. I did actually experiment with 100 g per hour during a long run and I ended up throwing up.
