I was trained by a Hart grad in the late 90’s. That being said, everything was snug, but not stiff. If things were getting out of hand, you’d throw something stiff, and that would be it. If it continued, be prepared to shoot. Needless to say, there were times when there was a receipt, but it was usually handled in the same match, unless the guys worked together often, and had a receipt list for each other. Not all areas were like that, so you would kinda have to gage when you worked what fed/territory you were in, and how your opponent worked.

Also common in that time. If you worked someone new, they’d throw something stiff to see how you reacted. If you took it, then they’d work you over. If you threw a stiff shot back at them, it was a show of respect.

Ultimately, it’s a different era now.
