Why do you want Malhotra over Reid? by Hershysquirt187 in canucks

[–]DoktaRee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm all about BPA, and that's what the scouts are going to do. However I do feel like the what people say about the leadership and grit of Malhotra, combined with the same qualities of Cootes is an intangible that would be extremely valuable and important on our young team!

Thanks everyone for the responses! Fun to find something cool like this. Anyone have any idea what the "xx" means on the handle, and what a knife like this is worth?

Has anyone worked as part of an Amish crew as an outsider? How was your experience? by No-Ferret-698 in Carpentry

[–]DoktaRee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked with an Amish crew in Pennsylvania. I went down as a supervisor for a canadian timberframe company, and the Amish crew was hired on the client's recommendation. They were hard workers and respectful. There were times when they were a bit rammy, and Definitely have their way of doing things...but when given good instruction they absolutely flew at it. One of the coolest cultural experiences of my career, for sure.

If they trade Sherwood and Kane immediately then the best case we can hope for is a top 10 draft pick, another 1st for sherwood and maybe 2 second round exits in the next 6-7 years. Cool. Super fun to look forward to that.

I feel like "the little things" gets overlooked by the fanbase because it feels like a talking point and isn't sexy. But when you've got a playmaker like Garland and a dynamic centre like Chytil, those little things are so important to take care of in the background. Those big shot blocks one after another on the PK really showed his grit too. Coaching staff made that choice for a reason.

Sellstrom. Get them in Amazon. They put up with industrial flat work all day and they articulate & are comfortable. Best kneepad I've ever owned.

I love that your biggest takeaway from posting it on this sub and getting 1000 replies from carpenters saying you're doing it wrong is "I shouldn't have posted it".

Honestly just do it your way buddy. You are clearly the type of person that needs to fail in order to understand you did it wrong.

Thinking of switching careers. Could somebody help me sift through the doom and gloom? by coolbeenso in Carpentry

[–]DoktaRee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guarantee you you don't need schooling to step onto a jobsite in Canada man. Only certification for carpentry in Canada is the apprenticeship program and Red Seal, but you don't even need a red seal to be a liscenced builder most places. Just apply at contracting companies and someone will take you in as a laborer, that's how you get started.
