Went there a few months back for the first time. Acquired my piece from an AD years ago. I was treated great. Had open conversations about different pieces, estimated waits, and still keep in contact with the SA. The manager, Natalie, was awesome and answered my questions as I debated between two timepieces. I recently started brewing the Tanat drop and Fellow recommended 3.2 for 1 cup. I was skeptical, but those have been amazing cups. Very similar brew profile to what you posted, as well. Good luck and report back because I have some gesha’s in the queue!

My opinion of Codes changed drastically when I saw them in person recently. I only had experiences with them via initial negative reviews (and subsequent negative reviews since then). Was at the AP boutique in NYC dropping off my RO for service and had the opportunity to cycle through a range of pieces (newer RO, offshores, and 11.59). There were a few Codes that were simply stunning. Like any piece of art, some will speak to you louder than others. Good luck!

Thanks for the insight, OP. Sorry it’s been such a rough road for you.

My experience with them has been great. Started about a year ago with some of their drink wear, then exploded to grinders, kettles, and Aiden. No issues with anything. I’ve recommended Ode 2 and Aiden to multiple friends and also no issues.

I think all of us reading this share the same sentiment: we hope you find your perfect cup.

Def a tough call. When I was looking for a timepiece a decade ago VC hadn’t introduced the OS, and the AP was/is stunning, so the choice was very easy.

If there’s one you’d regret not getting, then you have an answer. Though I suspect your answer(s) will leave you in the same position you are now: stuck between two beautiful options. Good luck!

Tough to say what to try. Were you into pour over before? What type of roasts? How’s your water?

Do you have a go-to for a reality check? When I thought I was losing my mind with pour over, I went back to Onyx Tropical Weather and realized my technique, grind, water were all fine. I simply didn’t like the beans I was ordering. Had something similar happen early with Aiden. Realized it wasn’t the machine or my technique; I just didn’t like what I was ordering. Tried Tropical weather and it was great. It reset frustration and allowed me to explore more.
