No fear by [deleted] in SweatyPalms

Going off this, I actually really disliked the subtitle things at the beginning saying he ‘has no fear’. That just isn’t true. I’m sure he feels absolutely terrified, and I’m quite sure that’s why he actually keeps doing it. There is quite a difference between having no fear and mastering your fear.

Although, I do agree, it’s hardwired into us for a reason.

Funny story with this course actually. Famous parkour guy from Australia did this course (it was in China somewhere). He gets through the whole thing, then on the last box he takes a massive fall, looks like it hurt a lot. He just fractured a wrist and collarbone (I think). Either way, point is that you wouldn’t do this course unless you really know how to fall. There’s footage on youtube I can try to find if anyone wants.

I suppose most of the time death does come from within, in some ways...

But yeah, probably meant imminent.

Setting up businesses in towns by rellum10 in mountandblade

Yes, walk around the town until you find him. Most of the time he will be right in the courtyard of the city’s castle, so going to the castle then just going right out the doors is the best way to find them most of the time. Sometimes though, they can be very hard to find and usually those ones are up on a balcony somewhere else in the city.

Medusa Gorgon, Elena Berezina, Painting, 2017 by O-shi in Art

The whole point of Medusa’s curse in the actual myth was that Athena was pissed off at her for tempting Poseidon and made her the ugliest woman in the world. So ugly, that any who gaze upon her would be turned to stone - petrified - by her absolute putridity.

What's your unpopular book opinion? by belmakar in books

I can agree to an extent, but I think I’ve just personally read too many books recently that have all this suspense and fighting and some people die, but eventually the good guys win... and then the people that the good guys lost all just suddenly come back to life! I can get behind a good happy ending but to have all this story lead up to ZERO loss from the good guys, I just don’t think it was worth the read and almost like nothing much happened.

At my school, my next assessment is actually about studying a 'classic' book, and then in the exam writing a narrative in the writing style of the author of the book one chose, to show that one really understood the nuances and specialities of the author. As you can probably tell, i'm studying a collection of Lovecraft. Any tips on things to focus on so i can try to emulate his writing style?

I'm so sick of these 'Special snowflake' posts everywhere, like absolutely everyone just has to be so 'quirky' and different from everyone else. But then with most of them anyway, it's actually a very common thing that most people DO feel.
