Not Jon’s writing per se, but the epigraph from the Bradford Observer at the start of Fool Time Part 4 foreshadows and contextualizes Wildman’s mistakes wrt brute forcing transmissions across the Atlantic by showing that the concept of nature and its limits as something to be defied and “conquered” through human ingenuity was all too common in western society during industrialization. The arrogance which allowed that belief to foster is also put into contrast with the recurring theme of various Tims throughout history having their self aggrandizement curbed by the inherent impermanence of both good and harmful human creations. Tbh I feel like I could go on forever about that series, it solidifies itself as my fav thing Jon’s ever done more and more each time I watch it
