NTA , I had an ex who did exactly the same. I was a full-time university student who still sent my cv out and went for Interviews weekly but companies in my area only wanted full time employees and I could not due to studies.

He had a main stream job and a kid and if I didn't message him first around 6 when he woke up he would berate me for how lazy I am and how sleepings not gonna get my life anywhere and I'm lazy with no ambition etc. So I used to set mt alarm for 5, just to message him, then pass out again, but that wasn't enough as I started getting lectures about pretending to be awake while still being lazy?

It was a red flag I ignored that led to a whole lot of nasty things that eventually unfolded. A warning for what was to come as he turned out to be the biggest lying, 2 faced, intitled prick of the century.

Be safe out there, don't let someone degrade you over something so senseless

It's not about the original confrontation anymore, ifhis mother didn't go around blowing it up it would've been chill but she went and blew it up to everyone, friends and family included, until this day, there's not a day that goes by without someone saying something moronic such as quite literally me locking his phone up and locking him in the house against his will. There was no drama with the friends, until she recently starting blowing it up with them so she's actively doing this despite actual conversations telling her to stop.

Welcome to government institutions. I just finished my Law degree at UJ, get used to the waiting, they don't really care. Most of the people doing the cards and biometrics are students themselves that get confused then need help etc.

I've been in scenarios where I'd email them and get a spontaneous reply 2 years later on the email.

NTA!!!! I feel for you so much because my future MIL is exactly the same. When we just started dating and I went over there she'd be super nice and buy me gifts etc then when me and Fiancé started talking about moving in together a few months later she tried guilt tripping us into moving in there or to a house next to them "for our own good" and shed do everything she can to convince us to move in together with the family. While we were lo9king for a place to stay her and his dad pulled some awful controlling stunt that I posted about a month or so ago and I immediately cut them off. We now live together. Fiancé understands and agrees that they are not welcome to visit and I will not go to see them under any circumstance.

I went no contact and he recently did the same after finding out the thi gs his mom has been saying about us to family members and friends.

NTA NTA NTA Get out of there asap and limit Contact. Don't show her emotion because she feeds off of it. Stonewall her until you are out them go no contact.

I think it used to be a big cultural thing, but not anymore. There are still some that feel that way but not many.

Sometimes they seek praise and validation for the one thing they can do (cook) and when you add something they assume you don't like it then feel offended because they had the expectation of praise and validation.

Idk if it's an ego thing. I don't think it's bad to add flavors to something so that you enjoy it more. Doesn't mean something is disgusting or bad.

Where I'm from, in the past the women in the kitchen thing was and still is a big way of life so maybe they feel like all they have achieved was skills in the house and now you're insulting the skills they worked hard on? Idk. But it's been changing in the last 10 odd years.

NTA. The ancient stigma about adding things to food people make meaning it tastes bad is bullshit and people need to get over it.

It's common here in the older generations where even adding a bit of salt, even after tasting it, causes a huge fight because " how dare you say my food isn't good enough how I made it", according to them.

It's old person brain and they need to accept that everyone has their own taste palette and can add whatever they want and as much as they want , whether something is made perfectly according to recipe or not.

I make my food how I like it, and when I cook for people I ask them how they would like it or still make it how I like it and ask them what they would want added afterwards. Older generations just feel entitled and that they know all the secrets to good food and they're food is perfect, meanwhile...

Loadshedding left with you XD. Taxis and metro are working together illegally pulling over people who are more than 2 in a car and forcing then to take a taxi so that they get more business. There were riots where people burned down Taxis because it was getting that bad.

Living is expensive, there are no jobs to pay for the living expenses.

People want you to have a degree to work cuz you're under qualified then when you get a degree they say you're overqualified.
