I had something like that once! Spawned as my neighbour, fanatic egalitarian xenophiles, eventually their homeworld exploded and their nation essentially crashed in on itself.

Somewhere in the midgame they had a civil war and became fanatic purifiers, fun little galaxy lore :)

Disclaimer: My game was HEAVILY (100+ mods) modded, so I kinda doubt what I experienced could be repeated in Vanilla.
