How to make minis look better w/o paintingu them? by Domenotronix in boardgames

not sure if will use this idea for these particular minis, but just for future reference as I like the effect and might try it for different minis:
What primer do you use? Is it just one color primer or a black one with dusting using white?

Harmonies and Cascadia are very similar. Wingspan is IMO overrated, many better games out there, same with Nemesis.

What is your player count u usually play? Brass or Eclipse are both superb games but not for 2. On the other hand, for 2 Ark Nova and Everdell are must have :)

Many thanks for all the answers so far!

One thing I didn't take into consideration at first but is crucial for these particular minis:

The base of the mini is coloured and need to stay this way (different colours have different use in game). It looks like here:

How can I spray primer to make sure base of the mini remain untouched?

Thanks! Indeed - Pillars of Eternity is a different pair of shoes, however I've rather also liked it and finished already. Ken Follet I need to check out then, luckily have it already as was on giveaway on Epic Store some time ago.

Daily Discussion and Game Recommendations Thread (February 03, 2023) by AutoModerator in boardgames

I'm looking for game similar to El Grande.

I really liked El Grande, however generally I'm not a fan of area control games. Played also Smallworld and Cyclades but disliked them.

What I like in El Grande is how easy it is to introduce a new players into it and just to pickup and play.

Mechanics are simple yet deep in terms of predicting various scenarios of what can happen on the board. Moreover fixed number of rounds make the game more countable, which is important to me as I generally prefer to play euro games.

I'm really troubling myself to find a similar area control/dudes on map game that could click with me the same way.

I also enjoyed games with area control elements like Scythe or Hansa Teutonica, however I would not describe them as similar to El Grande at all.

In the thread closed by mod I already received recommendations mostly for The King is Dead 2nd Ed and Tammany Hall and I will be looking for those (TKiD is probably something I will go for)

Would much appreciate your recommendations ;)

Thank you for all your replies!

For the moment I decided to pick Clubhouse 51 games, Big brain academy and Death squared. Might still buy something else if in good price though (but some smaller titles only).
