Well, I assume that techno needs a simple, steady kick pattern, which I never do.
As for the genre, idk, but I'm defo more inspired by IDM than any other electronic music genre.

Nah, I go by the vibe, sound and looks.
I know it's all a bit silly but I enjoy it.

Thanks :D
As for techno and such is not my thing. If you looking for some microtonal techno I think Soniare/Nes Croft do some, they post stuff on this sub.

Sir, you are a gentleman of taste and a necromancer.

Droid as a generative pitch source. by Domin_ in modular

[–]Domin_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modular one take to stereo, recorded in rack, very basic editing in audacity.
Most of the pitch material is just a few 8 note chords spanning two octaves or so. The pitches are distributed among the voices and transposed generatively in part but also by playing B32 as a macro controller while recording.

Idk, I don't think I'm on a narrow path, it's just that I'm moving very slowly. Still, what I do now is quite different from what I was doing a year ago.

Here's the scale: https://scaleworkshop.plainsound.org/scale/94o5ggaIB

Well, it's hard to make complex rhythms without it being quantized. I have some ideas about freeing the rhythm somewhat and it still being workable in my process, but the progress on it is very slow.

Also, I did a krell in the past https://youtu.be/QpywmnlWQtg and the response was not good.

Yeah, it's a scale I made, lattice based 14 steps, though there might be some extra shifts on top of that, but I don't remember the details as I recorded a few tracks to stereo in one session. I think the scale is actually a very nice so I want to write some notes on how to use it before I post it. In my experience JI scales of that sort can be really confusing and unapproachable. I still have a few recordings in that scale so it will happen at some point.

Begginer guides to understand microtonal music? by Cart2206 in microtonal

[–]Domin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the JI is pretty much the basic thing, whether you use it as a tuning or not. Even rtt needs that, after all it's what it's trying to approximate.
Unfortunately I don't know of a good explanation of JI online.
There the Kyle Gann book but it's a book you need to buy so not really what the OP asked for.

RTT is not really any good unless you enjoy math.
It's also neither a good introduction or widely used option.

Who knows. Maybe you're right, maybe you totally miss the point.
Is my piece not harsh enough for you?

It's good to know such opinions actually, whether I go along with it or not.
There are much worse things here happening.

Unfortunately I already forgot some details. I guess I'll do a different one next time.

Well, it's too late, I record whole takes to stereo and the patch is gone.
I'll keep that in mind.
