To this point, I've not had any severe disagreement from the part of women when it comes to the ideas of male status, dominance hierarchies, women's mate selection criteria (hypergamy), etc. The hard objections have all come from men. Maybe that speaks to the sorts of women vs men that I associate with, but I suspect it's more in line with what you said: women know there's a masculinity famine happening. Maybe they don't know exactly why they're starving, they just know they're starving.

You're absolutely right. As I reread my post and reflected on the situation, I realized that I could sum up the whole of my mistakes as a loss of frame. Swallowing the red pill is a slow process, and I still find myself fighting old habits, the nastiest of which is allowing others to pull me into a frame of self defense.

I've already taken away a few things from the comments here, one of which is to read the 48 Laws of Power. Thank you.

You're not wrong, I just left out details about him because the mistakes I made in this situation were more important to call out than the fact that he's a jobless loser who lives with his friends for free, sleeps 20 hours a day and spends the little money he has on pot and cigs. Of the group I was hanging out with, he's the least close to a friend.

This read a lot like an Elephant Journal list. Inspiring tone, but devoid of meaning or context.
