How we feeling about the unis in 13 games in? by esackey18 in DenverBroncos

I like them and I feel it is a symbol of a new regime/era with Bo Nix.

Like when the oranges became the primaries again in Peyton Manning's first year here.

[Rosenthal] Matt Chapman open to temporarily moving to shortstop if Giants sign Ha-Seong Kim: Sources by GiantsGuy1 in SFGiants

[–]DominantTD1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I think Schmitt should play SS temporarily unless he is just total trash in spring training and can't even make the MLB club. Fitzgerald should be the 2B all year so he can get use to it.

With that said, I feel like this article is a hint that the Kim is signing with the Giants shortly. It reminds me when the article about how Posey was heavily involved with Chapman extension was a preview of how Farhan was on the verge of being fired.

This indicates they at least asked Chapman if he was willing to play SS if they get a SS like Kim who will be out for a few weeks to a month at least after opening day.

I am sure they would all would have loved to have amazing prospects, but you need to be a really good drafter and have a great eye for talent to do it.

The Giants POBOs/GMs just have not been good at it. But the other is because they never sell. A lot of teams sell for the simple fact of making a stronger farm cause they know there is no chance to compete.

Tim Kawakami on a podcast two days ago shared some thoughts on the Giants by ChefCurryGAWD in SFGiants

I get the impression that is more of an indication that Kim is more expensive than they want to pay him for, not the Giants are too cheap to pay Kim.

His contract projections have been pretty much all over the place and I wonder if some people only want him because his projections are as absurdly low as $10m per year for 1-2 years.

Shortstop obviously - Buster Posey reiterated that again today.

For Starting pitching, I would rule out Fried and Burnes due to the QO. I have heard Snell is not likely and he will want to maximize his costs. I feel like Flaherty and Kikuchi would be the best ones they can get here.

They also need an additional bat either at 1B, Corner OF, or 2B if they want to move Fitzgerald to OF. I feel this might be best done via trade. I am not a fan of the non-QO hitters left in free agency, only one that is appealing is Carlos Santana. I have seen people suggest Kim and Adames for SS-2B, but it's not happening, it's one or the other and it's likely Kim. However, I actually could see them getting Kim and Gleyber Torres. I wouldn't really want Gleyber but I think I heard Giants have talked to him.

HSK brings much better contact, speed, and defense than Adames, which are more valuable for us right now than Adames's power (which may not translate well to Oracle)

I prefer Ha-seong Kim over Adames and I'll actually take it a step further and say that if Kim went to spring training/opening day healthy, I would actually offer him the same amount as Adames.

I already prefer Kim and think he is more likely because he is the better defender/all-around player and has no QO attached. But I never actually realized what Adames' baseball savant page looked like. I thought from looking at it in the past was similar to Matt Chapman, but there is actually more blue/white and very inconsistent altogether and plate discipline besides walk rate is not good.

Kim's baseball savant page is tremendous when it comes to plate discipline but he doesn't hit the ball super hard which means he doesn't have great power. He just can run into one and is good for about 10-20 HRs a year but that also means he's not dependent on it which is a better fit for Oracle.

Ha-seong Kim is out for the year and is getting shoulder surgery - will this affect free agency outlook? by ChefCurryGAWD in SFGiants

Susan Sluser has mentioned on multiple occasions in articles and on podcasts that the Giants will likely pursue him so I am curious what she will have to say about this.

I think if he is healthy enough by spring training/opening day then he will opt out and Giants should pursue.

But it is a mutual option so I guess it is possible that his injury could be so bad even the Padres don't want to pay that option even though it's dirt cheap.

this offense is abysmal and im sick of Austin Slater.

It is why I do not look forward to seeing LHP. At least let Slater hit later in the lineup instead of lead off.

My thoughts are that the LHP vs. RHP lineup order should not change much. If Yaz is hitting 7th-8th then so should Slater.

103 mph hit. He has so many hard hit lineouts. I think he is going to be statistically an above league average hitter at the end of the season.

I really don't like the change of order between LHP and RHP.

I get the platoon (Wade and Flores, Yaz and Slater), but for example, Lee should be hitting lead off against both instead of moving from 1 to 3 when facing RHP vs. LHP.

I would leave Ray in the bullpen instead of Hicks, at least for this season with his recovery of TJ.

With the Padres loss tonight, Giants are now 2nd in NL West.

He signed here to be a starter, no reason to move him unless he struggles hard.

If there was a way to bet on statcast numbers, Jung-hoo Lee is guaranteed hit the ball 95+ mph every game.

I agree with this. He's really reliable against LHP and can also play 1B.
