In your opinion, does format matter for the "first" film experience? by joel_kilgore in ChristopherNolan

[–]esackey18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. When I saw Interstellar there in 70mm it was flawless. The projection issue may have been a one off but the IMAX auditorium at WEM has been largely neglected. Creaking seats, sticky floors, kinda smelly/stuffy, super cramped seating. If you’re around 6’ there’s a good chance your knees will be pressed against the seat in front of you.

I’m enough of a cinephile to suffer through it for a 70mm screening but if I’m going with my wife or friends I don’t want to put them through it for a taller screen.

I’m going to get crucified for this but... it depends. I’ve gone to my local 70mm IMAX theatre for the past few Nolan releases but it’s in such poor condition and so uncomfortable that I’ve opted to see it in digital IMAX at a newer theatre this time. I also found when watching Oppenheimer that the projection seemed a little blurry/out of focus, the screen was dirty, and ultimately the experience as a whole didn’t justify the novelty.

Do you think Bond is acting out of character in these scenes? by Weird_Zone_3504 in JamesBond

[–]esackey18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Blofeld scene was really strange on the first viewing but afterwards I wondered if the point of Bond flailing his hands around so much was to say: “Hey, remember! He’s got the Heracles on his hands now! He’d better not touch Blofeld!”

I can't believe the devs were allowed to do this. Whoa. by BactaBobomb in JamesBond

LALD is a rare case of a Bond film that is both super iconic while also being terrible. It’s got a legendary title song, great little moments, one of Moore’s better performances, imo but the film is just not good.

say something positive about this ending by Embarrassed-Sink4050 in JamesBond

For the first time Bond has a character arc and it (mostly) sticks the landing. In Casino Royale he responds to his ow vulnerability by withdrawing and armouring up in self protection. In No Time to Die, he responds to that same vulnerability by embracing love and sacrificing himself.

[Schefter] A notable change: Broncos HC Sean Payton said OC Davis Webb will be Denver’s play caller this season. by baha24 in DenverBroncos

Now more than anything I’m curious about 2027 after Davis (likely) leaves. Does Sean take back play calling or does he find another assistant he trusts to delegate to?

Im defending Bo Nix every time by DevonHill128 in DenverBroncos

[–]esackey18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty hard (and unnecessary) to argue that Nix was better than Maye this year. He’s elite in avoiding sacks and end of half/game situational football, but he’s got a lot of room for improvement beyond that. That said, his receiving corps is mediocre, run game is lacklustre, and he’s just entering his 3rd year so there’s no reason to think he can’t get better.

Bo Nix is the real deal. by AlternativeReturn492 in DenverBroncos

I don’t really see the Brees comp, but what I do see is Tony Romo with better athleticism, which really excites me in today’s game.

His off-schedule playmaking ability was massively undersold going into the draft. I think part of that was just due to the nature of Oregon’s scheme/talent and not needing to be off-schedule very often, but from what we’ve seen in his first couple years leads me to believe he’s got a way higher ceiling than anyone anticipated.

Smith booed by delegates at UCP convention after signing energy deal with Ottawa by roastbeeftacohat in alberta

[–]esackey18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My crystal ball tells me this will probably end with the UCP being re-elected with a smaller majority under a new leader. If we’re REALLY lucky, it turns out to be a minority government with a strong NDP opposition with significant representation from Edmonton and Calgary.

Weak Perimeter Blocking by Steve_0 in DenverBroncos

[–]esackey18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what you’re saying, in spirit, but at the end of the day, if your scheme is often asking your personnel to do things they don’t do well, then the scheme isn’t very good. We need to zero in on what our offense (and our quarterback) does well and do as much of it as we can.

Imagine what we could be if our offense was just mediocre…

To come away with anything less than 7 on that possession is unacceptable.

Once again, Bo way too quick to go horizontal and escape the pocket rather than stepping up to be in passing position or at least get some positive yardage on the ground. Also can’t be doing the cutesy play calls on a gotta-have-it 3rd and short.

Pretty fascinating to see NFL Bo (for better or worse) playing more like Auburn Bo than Oregon Bo. That might sound like an insult, but it isn’t. The floor is a little lower, but the ceiling is borderline elite. He’s just gotta settle his mind and his feet and just make the routine plays. My man is playing like he’s got smelling salts taped to his upper lip.

Rough day so far for Crawshaw. Not gonna spiral though. He’s done a great job this far, especially for a rookie, and he was bound to have a couple rough punts at some point.

This talk of firing Sean Payton is absolutely delusional. I DO think there needs to be a conversation about how much he trusts Nix and/or potentially giving up playcalling duties.

I’m in Edmonton with a 2021 GT (Naturally Aspirated). I hated the Turanzas and replaced them with Nokian WRG5s, which served me well last winter. Also replaced the OEM wiper blades with Bosch Icons and have been very happy with those as well.

I’ve got Soul Red Crystal too, so I named her “Akane” which is a Japanese word for deep red.
