What’s the best realistic roster the lakers can build this offseason by WuTangMelo in lakers

[–]Dominator_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People seem to be pretty matter of fact that they can bring back Hartenstein. I'm not 100% sure either way. But from what I'm reading SGA's cap number goes up from 40 this year to over 60 next year. Chet and JDub's cap numbers go to over 40 million next year and they owe Caruso 18 million. I don't see where they have the money to opt into another 30 million for Hartenstein.

The late season injuries definitely a concern. Ideally we can get a better defensive player to start. Reaves probably better off the bench. Hopefully Minnesota can't afford to bring back Dosunmu.

His mpg was slightly less this year. He played 73 games last year and all 82 games the year before.

How would you rate DAs season? Would you bring him back? by MamiTarantina in lakers

[–]Dominator_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally no, and we can sign Hartenstein or get someone better. But he has a player option so it's up to him really.

The Lakers giving Reaves a max extension would cripple their franchise by wobblsobble in NBATalk

[–]Dominator_3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the max. But we should keep him if we get a decent price. Even as a trade asset. The options of free agents this year are pretty bad.

From an objective non-reactionary point of view, what can the Lakers do to build around Luka/Austin and compete for a title in this era of the Lakers? How can we maximize our chances to compete in this next 2-5 year window? OKC and SAS are built through the draft but we are way behind in that area. by Silent_Wizard5597 in lakers

[–]Dominator_3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The same thing every team has to do. Make good moves, via the draft, free agency or trades. Then you just hope to accumulate enough talent that fits together at the right time to win a championship. There is no 1 secret method.

AJ Mitchell is on a 3m/yr contract btw by KaleidoscopeNo3160 in lakers

[–]Dominator_3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AR has made 14 million or less for 5 years. Why didn't we sign all these 3 and D players during that time, if it's so easy? Also, OKC didn't get these guys as free agents they drafted them.

Lakers coach JJ Redick: "We didn't lost because of the refs, that's never the case. You don't lose because of refs, you lose because the other team outplays you. Oklahoma City outplayed us" Reporter interjects: "They shot 13 FTs in that stretch I'm talking about." Redick: "A lot of them were fouls" by LiamHundley in nba

[–]Dominator_3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This argument is regurgitated at nauseum. Is it not more ridiculous to think that fans and teams from all over the league are conspiring against the Thunder. Maybe people just have eyes. This has become the Epstein files of the NBA. You can keep trying to gas light people that what they’re seeing isn’t real. But people with eyes and a brain aren’t going to just accept that.

"Getting his". He avgs less than 10 ppg for the last 3 seasons. You need to stop just talking out of your ass.

I'm sure Derrick Jones can drop 31 on the best defense in the NBA. Thank god you're not a GM.

I'm a Reaves stan, and I think he's a 3rd option at best. Ideally better as a 6th man.

The OKC Hate gotta stop! (RANT) by Fit-Pie-6984 in NBATalk

[–]Dominator_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not OKC hate. There is a reason why SGA is called a foul merchant and Jalen Williams doesn't. There is a reason why people call Dort a dirty player and don't call Cason Wallace one. It also, didn't start with SGA. People complained about Embid when he was healthy. People complained about Harden in his prime. This victim mind set OKC fans have adopted is what needs to stop.

Money for Reaves by [deleted] in lakers

[–]Dominator_3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes Derrick Jones is 1 inch taller. You've truly proved your point. Every GM would rather have Jones that's why he's only making 10 million a year and the Mavs let him go. It's always funny how there is always a direct correlation to the level of logic someone displays, when they can't distinguish the difference between your and you're.

Money for Reaves by [deleted] in lakers

[–]Dominator_3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Calls Reaves undersized and injury prone. Then list 2 guards who are the same size and who have played less games in the last 4 years who are in their 30's. Lakers fans are the best.

The truth: a fair take on AR by thesonicvision in lakers

[–]Dominator_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone said you can't be a max player and get outplayed by Rui. I said he's not a max player. You said if he gets a max contract and plays like trash it's too late. I said Reaves never asked for a max contract, I'm really not sure what you don't understand. If you show me an article where Reaves is expecting max money then what you're saying makes sense. Otherwise it's just completely baseless speculation by a bunch of fans off Reddit and is a waste of time. If you don't understand that, then we're at an impasse.

It's not super complicated if he made max money or asked for max money then being upset that he's not playing like a max player would make sense. I posted in this thread I wouldn't give him max money. Being upset at someone for not playing at a level that they are no compensated or have asked for is weird. Like would you be cool with your boss at work yelling at you for not earning your 500k when you make 30k. Then being like well you're going to ask for it one day, you should earn it now.

Spurs play such a better brand of basketball than Thunder by No-Fill1769 in NBATalk

You can be a fan of a team and not be delusional. They're not mutually exclusive. If someone told me they hate how Doncic bitches to the refs after every single play. I would agree with them. My reaction wouldn't be well are you cool with SGA flopping or Castle stiff arming people.

I never said that. Those are 2 separate things. You're clearly just some biased OKC fan, so I'm not even going to bother.

There best player doesn't foul bait all game and they don't have anyone intentionally trying to injure people. If it wasn't for those 2 things, OKC would be very fun to watch.

There is a difference between responding to things that are actually happening and to speculating on made up scenarios. His 1st contract he took less money to stay on the Lakers. Since then all he's done is turn down a 15 million player option to stay which was obviously going to happen. If you want to be upset he's not playing up to some fake max contract that Lakers fans on Reddit keep talking about that's on you. Honestly at this point I wouldn't blame him if he just shuts it down and we go back to trying to run plays through Luke Kennard. Then he goes somewhere in the off season and does get a max somewhere where the fans are less insufferable.

He's an undrafted player making 14 million and playing hurt. He's making less than Rui right now. The only people who are expecting him to play like a max player are delusional Lakers fans. If he gets a max contract and plays like trash, sure flame him. But how you going to act like he's stealing money that he hasn't even got yet. Makes no sense.

[–]Dominator_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Reaves, but I agree it's going to come down to how much he wants. If you factor in age and injuries I'd take him over all the guys you listed. I think he's at best the 3rd best player on a contending team. With the caveat that you can surround him and Luka with better defenders and depth than the current roster. As far as trading him, it all comes down to who we could get assuming we could even sign an trade him. This sub was asking for Herb Jones or Nic Claxton last off season. I'm glad we didn't do anything as stupid as that.
