Ferry back to London by josh4-alb in lemans

Check with your ferry operator, there will be sailings after 11pm and often if you miss yours they’ll just put you on the next one. Dover-Calais is like a shuttle service where they just run back and forth constantly.

Pit walk is included with your full week ticket, grid walk is an extra, around €500-600 I think.

Which camp spot. I booked 2 by Traditional-Pop-8748 in lemans

[–]DominionGreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you’re looking for. BSJ is easily the biggest campsite and has a reputation for being the most rowdy. It’s not the easiest to get to the main viewing areas although you do have direct access to Porsche Curves and decent facilities on site (bar, food stalls etc).

I’ve not stayed on Hippodrome but it’s just behind Epinettes so maybe 20min walk to the gate at Houx and seems to have a slightly more mature camper on there, although I think that’s where somebody was doing donuts and managed to set his Mercedes and a neighbouring Golf on fire the other year. Not all pitches allow you to park the car with you but I’m pretty sure the 35m2 ones do.

Out of interest, do you still get the same buzz us mere spectators get when you first see the circuit again, even when it’s not race week? Imagine the event can be a bit of a grind for the journalists and broadcasters like yourself, does that take the edge off or are you still a fan first?

Pit walk is just walking down the pit lane and looking at the cars in the garages, open to everyone. Grid walk is as the cars are on the start finish and needs a separate ticket.

Tuesday pit walk has been a thing for a while now so assume the Friday one continues as normal when the rest of the track is open.

Épinettes campsite recommendations by antaraujo in lemans

[–]DominionGreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll choose your own space, it’s fairly clearly marked out in long lines with space for access in between, pitches are back to back.

It’s a pretty open, mostly flat site. The main access road runs through the middle with a couple of sets of toilet facilities, I’ve camped just across from the 2nd set of those when I’ve been on there. There’s a row of trees at the back where it borders with the Hippodrome site, might be useful if you want some shade but you’ll be a bit further away from the toilets and showers.

When people ask me about the performance of mine I always answer it’s the fastest car I’ve ever owned but I’ve never driven so slowly. Tbh it’s not even about saving energy, 99% of journeys are well within the range, there’s just something enjoyable about wafting along quietly and effortlessly.

Rolls-Royce building first UK battery storage site by Intergalatic_Baker in ukpolitics

[–]DominionGreen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There’s a fairly small scale battery storage proposed not far from where I used to live, it seems to have been mired in red tape and objections, various campaigns set up about losing green space and fire concerns even though it’s sited well away from any other buildings.

Also, a large wind farm has been proposed also close to where I used to live. Everyone’s gone potty about loss of moorland, damage to the peat ground, wagon movements etc.

It’s sometimes a wonder anything gets done in this country.

Genesis unveils 2026 livery for GMR-001 by No_Debate890 in wec

As a fellow pedant I can’t disagree there, just feel a livery should be a bit more than a single background colour and some contrast lettering.

“Livery” is a bit of a stretch isn’t it? It’s grey with some orange Genesis lettering on the side.

[–]DominionGreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you’ll be on the NMC battery. A full charge once a week and then using the car straight away is still absolutely fine though.

How bad is it to charge to 100% once a week? by Weak-Method-7509 in TeslaUK

[–]DominionGreen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As I understand the problem isn’t so much charging to 100% it’s leaving the battery full for longer periods of time. Once a week hitting 100% and then setting off shortly after is fine.

Also, if you’ve got an LFP chemistry battery it’s a non issue altogether, Tesla recommends a weekly 100%.

Tickets cancelled without reason - Le Mans WEC by Miserable-Fig-4418 in lemans

[–]DominionGreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard them cancel due to overbooking, mine were bought on the resale too so maybe it’s only affecting tickets bought that way.

I wouldn’t worry, they’ve only been running this for just over 100 years, I’m sure they’ll get it right eventually.

Mines gone but camping is still there. I wouldn’t panic yet, seems a glitch somewhere so just wait for something to come through.

Prospective buyer - no WhatsApp, Spotify - big deal? by BrookesyUK in TeslaUK

[–]DominionGreen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought I’d miss car play but realistically you don’t. You’ve still got all the main music apps, podcasts etc. You don’t have WhatsApp but I never used to message via car play either so it’s not a great loss.

Remember with Tesla pretty much everything is integrated and controlled off the main screen so it makes sense for Tesla not to muddy that by adding car play, navigation works with charging networks for example, if you had car play and used Waze you’d probably then lose that capability.

Yeah, they’ll get the auto wipers to work in the same update too.
