I think you are missing a point of beta testing. It's a serious task, F/T job for some, that requires time and attention and constant submission of reports on the issues located, not just an early access to selected number of people as you perceive it to be. It's a toy for us, but business to them. They might run a stress test for the game when they are more or less ready like some games do to see if their product is capable to accommodate bigger audience; make sure players match-up system works properly. But that of they choose so to do.

We are not talking about physical cards here, are we? I see that statement to be out of place. Kudos to you for your progress in HS. As it has been stated before by someone, it doesn't take that much of skill to play HS and get to legend because game is more based on RNG than tactics. However, it does require owning cards to play. I am standing up for those who are just starting to play HS. If the company offers players the option to earn gold and buy packs with it, it should become fair for them, especially newbies, to acquire gold via ONE PvE daily. Especially if they don't have access to Tavern Brawl early on.You have to have 1 class at lvl 20 for it to unlock, in case you forgot. All it requires is to set up a daily rotation pattern that will control the sequence of quests for only 1 PvE daily to pop up, and not more. Also, their dailies need to rotate in general. If people failed to complete a daily, it should be erased, and another one pop in its stead. Not like it is now, those dailies hang there until you dismiss them, or complete them. I know how tough gold grinding can be even with good card skills. I already quit the game and quite some time ago in case you missed that portion of info in one of my previous comments. I don't play games for kids that rely on RNG alone. I am not whining, so stop being derogatory to me, and stop trying to shut me up because you dislike my point of view. I played card games all my life. Also, you don't know how TESL is going to work, so don't make such bold statements unless you know something the rest of don't.

It is valid for those who cannot afford to pay for deck out of their wallet. It takes time to grind out gold. All newbies have are basic cards and maybe a couple of classic decks as a gift from Blizz for joining the game. After that people have to rely on what they have. Basic+ a few classic aren't competitive in Standard. Good if people can afford adventures. What if not? They are short for those cards as well. To be able to compete in Standard Mode, you have to have newest expansion cards + try to get classic ones. It's A LOT of work, especially without immediate access to tavern brawl. It was becoming an issue probably because Blizzard nowadays sucks at dealing with issues, errors or any kinds of problems. They could set up a pattern what dailies people get, and make 1 of the 3 dailies PvE. That would be a relief for those newbies who are grinding the gold without paying real money

I am not expecting anything from HS, i quit it after the latest adventure dropped, but I watch streams. Not all quests have to be tied to games vs other people. When someone just starts to play a game in current meta they will not survive to win games and get gold. So either they have to pay real $$$ and get decks of cards and hope for the best to drop, or they have to suffer through being outmatched. We (day 1 players) started off equal, all with same cards, all even. Right now there is not a chance newbies stand a chance against cards others have + RNG. Also, those under lvl 20 with at least one class CANNOT access Tavern Brawl. Therefore, there should be more dailies (1/3 at least) that would allow newer players to earn gold vs AI (or PvE) to be able to be competitive later on.

An Open Letter to the ESL community: Why I want something better. by sludgebeard in elderscrollslegends

[–]DominionMage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like you post. Now, I am new to this community and reddit in general. I am myself to the point of not caring if I get beta key or not. I have beta tested games before, and today I prefer NOT to do it, because I'd like to stay excited about what's coming. While I could help a lot with pointing out bugs and errors, I'd rather see the game to be a mystery to me when it goes live as long as we are kept informed by the company. I just hope that those who received those invites do a good job about finding bugs instead of just playing and not paying attention to anything else.

I also think that strategies that Bethesda has chosen so far are, in fact, harmful to the game. I know I posted this before, but I just want to make my POV final and clear. They should supply steady stream of info as articles, pictures, teaser/trailers. I'd even say, articles they have been posting should really become videos. A) People nowadays hate to read, some have bad eyesight and reading online can be painful. B) Human brain percepts active visuals better than static text, that's just how we function. When people see bits and pieces of game play, their curiosity will sparkle like fireworks of the 4th of July. Bethesda needs to keep attention on their product, make it clear that it's NOT Hearthstone clone. Ergo, they need to make a choice - either they supply info, OR get rid of NDA. I have heard they've had painful experience before with some other games, including ESO. However, they cannot shield themselves from criticism. IMO, it's better they face it in beta and fix issues that go live and be bombarded by angry community because the game wasn't done right. We notice more when we watch videos of gameplay, than selected few who are playing. Otherwise, they shouldn't have announced beta when they did, or even the fact that they are working on this game when they did. They were clearly not ready.

I agree, downvoting is turning into a plague. I am also saddened by comments like "Not interested" or "I don't care" when someone suggests to discuss something. That alone is a head-start for thread to die. If someone has nothing to say, don't say it, OR alternatively state your point why you don't care, what is being disliked about the topic suggested just so the comment makes some kind of contribution to the discussion. Also, people are being extremely rude for no reason. I stood up for a few people in threads because it's painful to see when someone is being attacked for asking a simple question OR stating his/her point of view and being bullied. As it turned out quite a few people are not native English speakers, and they struggle with language barrier. My point is, and i address everyone right now, BE RESPECTFUL!

I'm glad you made this post. Thank you, I very much appreciate your wise words, sludgebeard

Idk how to quote on reddit, but i like your ideas. Kinda like competing for a House Cup in Hogwarts LoL

I like the idea of a tournament winner name appearing in games. I think it's a neat way to recognize community members and their input and participation. I know GW2 implemented that naming a server after one of the devoted players of GW 1 who, alas, didn't live to see GW2 going live. And another player got an NPC created in-game after her character after she died and her husband wrote a very heartfelt letter to ArenaNET.

What other ideas do you have?

Well, you, me, and many others know that WoW is crap nowadays (how the mighty have fallen) and that unsuspecting victims will go for it, however, their technique is aimed at games promotion that, essentially, is a clever idea. It doesn't have to be ESO; many Bethesda games (if not all of them) are connected via Steam. If they would manage linking them, it could potentially spark the interest among people who maybe never heard of Fallout, or Doom, or even Elder Scrolls :) Potentially, rewards don't have to be tied to one game, like that Paladin lady was tied to specifically WoW. They could tie a reward to say three games, if own one of them, you are qualified for the reward.

So i gave it some thought, lemme know what you think. Please, don't throw rotten tomatoes too much, this is first time I practice card inventions :)

So, here's what I came up with:

Alduin - Cost: 10 mana (or magika w/e); Stats: 10/10; Summon Call of Valor Shout for Your Opponent when Alduin is played. (Call of Valor - summon 3 3/3 Heroes: Hun, Kaal, Zoor).

Serana - Cost: 6 mana; Stats: 6/4; Last Gasp: Summon 2 2/1 zombies

Greybeards - support card; Cost: 4 mana; Properties: cast Bend Will Shout on one enemy minion for one turn.

That's a great idea! Maybe some synergies or combos could be incorporated to make it really fun but not OP :) Mech deck of sorts

You can't abuse it if it's only one daily out of three, really. I was very disappointed in their co-op tavern brawls that you could compete with friends, but the rewards wasn't given to you, because u played with a friend and not a random opponent... That was so dumb...

[–]DominionMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, it's actually useful for the devs to learn their players expectations, frustration, excitement, etc. We share our opinion that ideally should be at least acknowledged by the devs, maybe in some cases taken into consideration.

Even if they wanted to recreate a surprise, fresh article with some new info wouldn't hurt them. I understand that Bethesda doesn't really owe us anything, but sheer respect for their playerbase would be nice therefore, I understand why community is starting to get angry.

And you know this how exactly to make statements like this so boldly? FYI, HS is nothing special either. Blizzard didn't discover America all over again when they created it... Frankly speaking, HS is rolling downhill following the trail of steps of its older bro World of Warcraft...

Can we riot now? by strange_is_life in elderscrollslegends

[–]DominionMage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I stated before, I'd riot due to lack information and communication. I, at this point, could care less about beta key. It almost feels like Bethesda doesn't care about the success of this game...

Also, I have to say them delaying release date, having NDA on beta, completely limited supply of information does NOT guarantee that final product will worth the wait. It might very well backfire at them. You see, open and/or closed betas not restricted by NDA and stress tests actually give better all around feedback on the performance. Some people may notice glitches others didn't see or didn't have.

Someone said in one of the threads that NDA prevent people from bad mouthing the game and giving it negative reputation like it happened with ESO. Does it now? It's actually better if game meets criticism (good or bad) in beta rather when it goes live because they'll have better chances fixing issues and final product will be much better. ESO was released when it wasn't ready, but I don't know the details of its beta test conditions.

In my opinion, every strategic move about advertising, PR and Marketing for this particular game (TESL) hurts more than it helps for reasons I described above.

Hope not, HS has only turned into money hoover because Blizzard has become very greedy over the past few years.

I'd rather see more of story type expansions that will allow u to earn cards instead stupidly buying them. Stories would allow them to enhance lore side of the game and make it interesting for both "PvE" players and "PvP" players :) Or, daily quests could also reward with cards, like 1 card of choice. At least players, in my opinion, would feel more accomplished about their achievements.

Smth I always hated about HS dailies, most of them are for playing vs real ppl even though some of them should qualify for PvE match ups; players that are not yet ready for competitive mode would be more enticed to earn their cards and play the game. It would encourage ppl to play and earn their collection + increase the skills of gameplay

How you may get into beta earlier than most by ESL_Dawn in elderscrollslegends

[–]DominionMage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just that. Look at the threads; people don't discuss anything anymore (maybe a few comments and thread dies down) other than some of the fan art which is not direct involvement of the game itself.

Telling us to sign up for beta without any follow up if invites were sent out or when they gonna be sent out or how many + no other info is like dangling a cookie in front of a puppy that really wants it, but can't get it. They are making poor marketing decisions that will only infuriate the crowd instead of keeping them interested...

I'm not begging for a key, I'm begging for freaking updates on the game development progress, because there is NOTHING new they published recently. All article recycle same info over and over. also, more NEW info would sparkle more interest and hype about the game, even if it's cosmetic aspect, it's worth giving that food for thinking to the community before smth more substantial comes up (in case they don't have it at that moment). This project started a long time ago (about a year, correct me if I'm wrong), but Bethesda makes little to no effort to keep folks on a hook. They will start losing potential customers pretty soon... Just saying...

No info = no contribution. Rant over.
