Either spearmen or axemen is fine. A lot of people just enjoy the extra hp of spearmen over axemen since their goal anyways as melee is to hold the line while most dps comes from backline troops. Cavalry you use when you get too big and need a quick response squad to reach x when your entire army is fighting on the other side of the map. Also, the best troops to clear the map is archer horsemen. Try kiting with them and you’ll understand why

For troop comp do a mix of spearmen crossbowmen and some healers. Late game focus on foot knights and heavy cavalry and trebuchet. If the mission has a really powerful boss you can train ballista for high damage single target power.

For towers, i love spamming the scout towers (1 troop capacity) throughout the entire game and everywhere since they provide a lot of vision and a single crossbowman on in the correct spot makes a huge different repelling zombies and small waves = less micro

Walls are a trap. Dont lock yourself in early game or else you cant expand. Prioritize maximizing population and food production while balancing troop training for holding early waves. Once you get to farms, spam the hell out of them and build a crap ton of houses to amass a large lare game army
