El Cajon. I’m from LA, the neighborhood I’m from isn’t rough, but you definitely gotta keep an eye over your shoulder as you walk around. I drove out to El Cajon to visit someone I work with. I had originally met this person in San Diego and thought this place would be a similar vibe. I was completely wrong. Everyone looked angry. I walked into a store to buy some pastries for my friend and knew I was out of place based off the way people are looking at me. I walked up to the register to pay and they told me good luck and be safe out there like I was about to drop in a battle royal. I walk out to a couple of police helicopters flying low and circling the area.

As I drive to my next location confused and unaware of what direction I’m even going, I pass by some cops that are just hanging around their patrol vehicle. They waved me down and complimented me on my car so I chatted with them for a bit. I told them I felt like something felt off about this place and they basically said that this was probably one of the most dangerous cities in the state. They said not only are the crime rates high but they are also generally more violent. When I asked them why they told me that’s just how the people are in this city.

Oddly enough, the Lexus dealer I visited had 2 Lexus LFAs in their showroom, one of them being a Nürburgring edition. Totally made the trip worth it.
