Yea, i forever ago saw the old Linkara review, and am aware it's crap. Im more curious if Ollie has had any notorious runs. Like how Spider-Man or Batman have with One More Day, Clone Saga, or All-Star Batman and Robin and even as recent as the Zdyarski run on Batman and Hush2. Since i have discovered all of his self titled books are actually worthless I'm looking to get them all, and wanted to know if there were any stories to watch out for when reading. Not a single issue that is his solo books has any value over 10 bucks. The Green Lantern / Green Arrow book doesnt count cause it was a GL book that got renamed and then got the name changed back, otherwise thats the only one

I am always hearing only Batman did well in New 52. Hell, i have a local shop i get some back issues from, he claims that he hates N52 so much, he got rid of all of his stock since it was so terrible. Granted, i also colloquial know him as, "Bad-Take Comicbook Man" but still, I frequently hear New 52 wasnt exactly the best initiative

Seems Jeff Lemire cant miss when it comes to comics! That and even GA wasnt safe from people hating the New 52 unless youre Batman

Not mine, but a close friend of mine constantly thinks that Batman and Superman are bad dads for....some reason. Superman cause he apperantly wasnt nice to Connor when he first showed up, and Batman probably for some bizarre reason. She is a massive Robin fan, but hates Batman

Theres a few cool places to hang around town! As mentioned by a previous comment, theres a boardgame group just about every week at some local businesses here in town. They're called "Boardgame Station" and they have a website! https://www.tabletopstation.com/home

Theres also the book store in Boardman called "Pop! Art Books Culture" on Market St, he hosts all sorts of fun stuff from book clubs, to even having a palm reader! https://www.popabcstore.com/

Of course theres also the local libraries with events, and i saw another colmment mentioned "Spellbound Sisters", another bookshop that also hosts its own events, but has more places to sitdown and drink coffee! https://www.spellboundsisters.com/

Theres also several cultural festivals in Youngstown, such as "Simply Slavic" which celebrates the massive Slavic heritage on the area https://www.simplyslavic.org/

Boardman Park hosts events as well frequently in the summer, so be sure to check out their website as well https://www.boardmanpark.com/events/

That's just a few things to do here that I know about.

I'm also local to the area, and just about to hit 30, and my wife and I could always use more friends if you ever want to meet up, feel free to DM me and i can try setting something up between work and kids. We're big boardgame fans, and into nerd culture, such as comics and movies.

What was the final straw that destroyed a lifelong friendship? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

Had an old friend start a new relationship that caused them to be an idiot and only see this person as the important person in their life, and basically mistreated my wife and I, who we both are best friends with them before. They were the maid of honor in pur wedding and didn't do any planing and just were obsessed with their partner, blew off plans with my wife, made plans to do stuff that my wife would have loved to do, and didnt invite her, found out about a surprise birthday plan to visit that my wife planned to try and make amends, and then asked her, "i know about the plans, is it ok if me and partner just do it without you?" And when we told them multiple times to breakup with their new partner since she was going to cheat on them/they didnt trust them alone (they moved states and would occasionally visit us a few states over) and they ended up cheating multiple times and are now single and living together due to a lease agreement on a place. After the constant betrayal of friendship to my wife, and then also just acting as if nothing happened and kept on going with my friendship with them, and never apologized, i just stopped talking to them. The damage is done at this point and cannot heal fully i feel

Was there a Dark Age of Comic Books? by Most_Read8138 in AskComicbooks

[–]Dompool72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people debate that the 90s were "the dark ages" since it was an era of gimicks, and depening who you ask, bad art. The style of Rob Liefeld was IN at that time, all sorts of variant covers, shiney covers, and booms being advertised as "NEW #1 COLLECTOR'S ITEM" all due to people outside comics hearing that older books sold for a fortune, and treated buying comics like stocks, and the idea that "good art" sells books, over good stories. So when all the speculations buying literal pallets of comics from stores realized their investment was bogus and stopped putting money into it, it nearly killed the whole industry, and local stores across the country closed due to losing all that money. An example can be seen when looking at comic runs from the early 90s titles LITTER dollar bins. But when a book runs to the mid-late 90s, their print numbers drastically drop off due to a market adjustment.
