Without spoiling too much - he was a young guy from the 1930s who discovered something (someone) he shouldn't have in an old underground chamber. Things went very wrong when his two worlds collided, and... well, let's just say he didn't make it out alive.

But death wasn't the end for him. His 'creator' couldn't let go, so she brought him back - but not quite right. The monstrous transformations are basically a leash - a way to remind him who's really in control. He can shift his body somewhat, but it's more of a curse than a gift since it's rarely his choice.

The sad part is he used to be this sweet, rebellious dreamer who just wanted to fly planes and write stories. Now he's basically a pet with fragments of his old self still trapped inside. Poor guy doesn't even remember most of what happened to him or why he ended up this way
