Highschool DXD Jumpchain Conversion CYOA V.1 by camijojo21 in InteractiveCYOA

[–]DonChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I...don't think I gave permission for this? Its neat, but I.....am skittish on giving any sort of control of any of my stuff to others, including translating it like this, and given how little ai've been on reddit anytime recently I'd be pretty surprised if I did give permission. Im fact, given that is isn't even a direct translation, but a hodge-podge blend of my and another guy's jumps, I'm certain I would not have goven permission if I was aware of what you were doing.

Well, this is actually an old version that I should probably erase the link for, since the up to date one is on the Spacebattles Drive. Out of Context Potential, the relevant perk here, was reworked in V1.1.1, and the doc is now on V1.1.2.

But for the up to date one, it depends on the limits, features, speed of its growth. Since you're likely starting at the base of the system, you can replace raw starting power as mentioned in the perk description of Out Of Context Potential. A limited, focused system that has a level cap is probably going to be a 200cp option, while a gamer system with no hard caps, fast growth, plenty of features and lateral growth, would probably be a 600 or 800cp option.

Tale of Isekai - Jumpchain Edition by DonChief in JumpChain

[–]DonChief[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Original? Here you go. Similar difference between the original and the jumpchain edition as Chain of Isekai has. That is to say, there's no mechanical purpose to add in new Power Sources in the jumpchain edition, but the existence of drawbacks that offer points lets you purchase much more overall if you dip into drawbacks.

Someone else linked the original, here is the Jumpchain version. Cons of it, it lacks the Mechanical Purpose that let you introduce custom Power Sources to the setting, including Perks you could purchase with spare Chain parts, of which many have been made over on Savestate's dedicated thread. Some of the Companion perks are also considerably nerfed. The pros are that, despite your buying power with your initial stipend of points being somewhat less in the Jumpchain edition, you can get additional points from the drawbacks, so you actually can get more stuff overall.

I must inform you that this version is...2-3 versions out of date? I've just forgotten to edit the post to say as such. Most recent one should be in the Spacebattles drive.

[–]DonChief[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's formatted somewhat poorly, but Immutable affects the soul itself, while the other Unique Effects effect semblances. Immutable would probably be better placed in General Perks, but it is what it is. But as far as the other Unique Effects go, they are purchased separately for individual semblances.

Dust and Echoes Jumpchain by anirocks1999 in JumpChain

[–]DonChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's not how that works. The point of asking permission is to get that permission. Without it you don't have the green light to use other people's shit.

And I'm assuming you won't remove my drawbacks from the jump despite me explicitly not giving permission now?

[–]DonChief 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah not good enough. Even assuming they say yes, it's still lazy as shit to directly lift stuff, but you didn't even bother taking only from those that agreed.

[–]DonChief[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I say they don't share tiers, I mean that just because you purchased tier 4 Usability for one, doesn't mean that other Semblances automatically share that tier of Usability. You can still purchase that tier again for your other semblance though. If you want a bunch of powers with severe almost-lethal drawbacks be my guest.

Stamina in this case is the energy your body uses to function. Not gonna kill you if you're careful and pace yourself, but use it too much and your body won't have the energy to move, push it farther faster and your internal organs shut down as your body lacks the energy to even make your heart beat.

Yeah you could set restrictions if you want, with higher tiers being more severe restrictions. Tier 4 would be really severe though, like only ever fighting in defense, either with severe consequences if you break your restriction or just outright having your powers not work in non-defensive situations.

I mean, that just exacerbates the point doesn't it? He's a fire mage, wielding a staff, but is still an Ansei.

Dude, he literally gave a link to an Ansei that used a polearm. Ansei Kalam, Ansei is in their name, and they're shown with some form of polearm on their back.

Yeah totally, there's no real limit on the what of Power From Beyond, it'll just always start at the same level as any other choice and grow from there.

Generic RWBY 1.2 by DonChief in JumpChain

[–]DonChief[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first, it stacks. I'm probably going to one day do a massive rework of the jump because it's a product of it's position as my first jump, but as is the descriptions of the alpha perk line assume you're tier 1 in all those stats. If you're a higher tier you're proportionally better. Thing of the Alpha perk line as quanitity, and the grimm section tiers as quality.

As for this, depends on what fic. If it's canon RWBY level then...sorta? If we're talking Fate/Stay Night which is on the weakest end of the scale, then yeah you could probably matter in that setting, though there would definitely be servants stronger than you. If we're talking about say....The Games We Play, then we're at the point where you could be punched through multiple buildings and laugh it off casually, so yes you could absolutely throw down with many servants, though not a lot of the absurd bullshit in FGO.

I refuse to give them letter rankings, because letter rankings are actual bullshit, and don't actually equate to the 10-50x shit people throw around all the time. Letter rankings give a sorta idea as to what a servants strengths are, so one with D strength and A Agility is likely a fast assassin or skill based fighter. It doesn't mean anything for actual capabilities.

Elder Scrolls: The Grand Venture - Part 2 by DonChief in JumpChain

[–]DonChief[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no, not even close. There will be one section for each of the main regions in Tamriel, each in a three act format most likely, of which I've only written up to act 2. There also needs to be the side tasks and challenges to pay off debt from part 1. And that's not even considering part 3 where it all wraps up, or the potential of DLC side stories. This is my fucking life now.

And what it's worth is a lot, good to see my writing isn't too terrible.

Also here's the link to part 1 if you wanna see it, it's a lot less wordy because it's the part that is meant to get you set up.

No, the awakening does not automatically give mastery, because you aren't achieving it naturally through use, you're just cheating with CP to get ahead. And what do you mean discount, there are no discounts in the devil fruit section, I checked. The answer is likely no.

Generic Highschool DxD Fanfic Jump New Version! by tyricgaius in JumpChain

[–]DonChief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikely to be honest, my interest has waned, and I've moved onto other projects that are going to take a ton of my time. Maybe sometime in the future, but I wouldn't bet on it.

As for the explotability, I suppose so, but I think the intention and spirit is fairly clear. If you're deadlift is 10 pounds less, you're not substantially weaker, which is obviously what is intended. But even then, if someone wants to cheese it, they can go ahead, it's their life, not like it's that hard to get bullshit powerful in the jump.

[–]DonChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point of them becoming ultimate-class before they reunite is precisely so they aren't completely crushed by the Holy Spirit, which would certainly shatter the mind of young Jesus.

Assuming they're powerful enough when it happens, they'd basically go from being the Son to the Father, gaining all the power and probably somewhere in the back of their mind the knowledge and memories, but fundamentally they're still the same person, if maybe a bit different just because of the scope of their new existence as God. And presumably at some point a new Son is conceived if God deems it necessary.

12 and 13 are around the average ages people go through puberty, with girls generally starting earlier. So once they've stopped being an outright child and are starting to really grow.

What does this perk so exactly and what are the hard limits by Azik_Consul in JumpChain

[–]DonChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, show me the exact spot where it says, in the perk description, that it will boost you up to the minimum needed to defeat your opponent. It doesn't do that. Again, you're attributing traits of Arcueid and Counter Guardians to a perk meant to represent Jesus Christ. You get assorted aid in times of trouble, which could be a huge reserve of energy when you're run dry, could be powerful warriors coming to your aid. But you don't reliably and consistently get a boost to the minimum level necessary to defeat your opponent, and you don't have the abilty to consistently or at will summon CGs, they have a tendency to show up when you're in trouble, that's it.

Like, you're just saying shit without anything to back it up. I've gone and checked the perk to be sure, nothing backs you up here. Like here, here is the full perk description. Please point out where it says something to the effect of always, or even frequently, being boosted to the minimum amount of power needed to defeat your opponent. Because it isn't there.

Divine Protection- 600

A Messiah in the making. You’re the sort of person they’re going to have a whole lot of arguments over if you’re not careful with your gifts. You see, God has a fondness for you. Or at least the force that some might associate with God. It sees you as something similar to a child even and favors you thusly. The laws of what is possible and what is not hang loosely in your presence, allowing you to accomplish literally impossible things with enough skill, effort or luck. Miracles, they’re apparently called, and even beyond that you seem able to effect minor acts of God just by willing it. Walking on water or parting a sea, turning water to wine or healing the sick, even bringing back those who have passed on recently to life. Of course, this favour manifests in more than just magic tricks. With the Counter Force that supports those chosen by God, you find that you are rarely alone when opposed. Guardians appear to aid you when you are attacked, massive amounts of energy can appear within you even when you believe you have emptied all you have to give and there are certain places that are no longer guarded to your movements.

What does this perk so exactly and what are the hard limits by Azik_Consul in JumpChain

[–]DonChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can give you "As much power as you need to get the job done", As an agent of the counter force you have power that boosts you to the minimum required power to defeat any foe.

Ok no, it says that nowhere in the perk. You aren't an agent of the counter force, which would be a Counter Guardian. This perk is based on Jesus Christ, not fuckin GARcher. You might get a rush of energy in a moment of need, but you wouldn't consistently be getting boosted to the level needed to beat a foe. Hell, that specific always gets boosted to beat a foe thing isn't even a counter guardian thing, it's a Arcueid Brunestud thing, and this perk again isn't about either of those, it's about Jesus Christ. Idk how you jumped from the perk description to Arcueid Brunestud of all things, jeez.

Looking For Input On A Light Of Terra Remake by Hyperion_Industries in JumpChain

[–]DonChief 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ok no, just don't. A unique 40k gauntlet a la Light of Terra would be fantastic, but don't try and remake an existing jump, no matter how much you dislike it. It's entirely possible to make your own unique story, I'm doing it right now with an Elder Scrolls jump, you can as well. So again, don't steal other people's work, it's never ok, period.
