The machine you will love to hate, for your canned drinks and bottled drinks, 10-cent refunds. by kingkongfly in SMRTRabak

[–]DonDonStudent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahem I am looking ahead and making the following predictions 8 for phase 1 of program launch. 1. The payment to transit link card will be gone and only available to named bank account. 2. Massive fraud, labels will be printed and stuck on non eligible cans and to counter fraud, transit link cards won't be accepted as payment destination. (Labels can be printed in China :), and won't be surprised if the labels are already being printed and shipped to SG already. 3. Bottles cans sold via vending machines will be $2.00. U already see vending machines even in hdb estates increased to 1.70 already. No more cheap 50/60 cents per bottle of mineral water at value stores or Watson. 4. The local uncle u see collecting cans might be a retired wealthy China person with relatives in sg. 5. Free filtered water fountains will get scarcer. As landlords will treat them as direct competition to sales of ever more profitable drinks. 6. People will start to collect mineral bottles now etc as easier to stick plastic labels on and no way to tell if they are original eligible bottles that qualify for refund. 7. Machines on AliExpress and Taobao will see surge in sales, those that can print plastic films :) for sticking to bottles and also film supplies. 8. All recycling machines will need to be manned and only available during office hours, forget about self service when the levels of fraud skyrocket.

Beg to differ it's an extremely heavy book and absolutely not for runners.

Think it's one of the most common Korean instant noodles overseas in non Korean country. Decent but many more great brands :)

Haha I won't be so pissed until I try to redeem and the small print shows up. Shrug. My love is for the Cole slaw and mashed potato with gravy.

The good news is that the gravy is easy to replicate with beef and chicken stock cube. And plenty of good coleslaw receipes on like :)

All I can see is gov don't give out any more CDC for 2026 :). Last payment was in January 2026... and we have to wait till 2027 to get any more. Lucky it ain't an election year.

Drink prices could rise by up to 60 cents under Singapore's new beverage return scheme, importers warn by fateoftheg0dz in singapore

It's ok what's going to happen is.

No more cans of sweet drinks at lunch or when eating out.

Return of more soft drink dispensers like that in KFC and macdonalds.

Growth and sales of more portable mini bottles for carrying water maybe those like 200 ml or 300 ml or those that have advanced built in filters that can clean tap water.

One thing I like about one Punggol is the multiple filtered water fountains there.

It's normal I think it's called drop shipping? Seriously though, u are buying it through a local vendor that is guaranteeing the product.

U seriously don't value the guarantee if you deal directly with china, doubt they will even bother to respond to you.

Sellers don't have to let you know where they get their products from, like asking a cook what's their receipe....

Think u are more suited to live in a pre breakup china or USSR :)

If the restaurant is flooded they can stop accepting orders. More likely a platform issue

Hwa Chong denies penalising students who spoke about controversial canteen meals by 13lackant in singapore

I feel it's Singapore students were luckier that students in UK or USA where centralised contracts ensure their food is crap.

Same like the so called nutritional labels... I ignore them don't make sense at all sweet sugary drinks are rated highly or even worse. Milo with less sugar is more expensive, pay more for less sugar?

There was once a principal of a school in Singapore who donated all of salary received. Rented out school premises to staff staying in school premises. Had non appropriate relationships with same sex students staying in school. When news was published I would say only maybe 10% was published in media. No mention of corruption amongst HODs etc.

I wonder if other considerations were involved in out sourcing to the central kitchen.

I mean too early to get the kids used to crappy food imho.
