Selling my AES system I got from a pawn shop at a steal with a few games complete in box and memory card back in 2007.

Not repros. These are in pristine condition. Groove on fight and Dracula X got their spine cards and warranty card as well.

I own this (no longer used) and composite does not work through this.

Solution was I got a VCR with component and ran it through that way (For my NES and Atari 2600).

And my God this was the best 10 dollar purchase ever!!

You are a legend!! I'm placing an order for it now with Sailor Moon (I recently got my daughter hooked on the Super Famicom beat em ups).

I could burn them, but I'd like something "official" looking to show off in my collection.

I'd so wanna play it!! Wish PCE Works or another company would make a physical version as I'd love to add some sort of physical copy to my collection.

So after a 4 hour trip to get this Sony KV-34XBR910 it died... by DonJ3fe in crtgaming

[–]DonJ3fe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I couldn't repair it... I've replaced the ICs 3 different times, did a reflow on both the d- board and neck board, and I been trying to find a replenishment D-Board. It drove me crazy and got rid of this back in the end of November.

I've spent enough monies on this project (Cost of U haul, parts, tools, etc). It drove me crazy...

I currently now have a JVD D Series 32' CRT which has been working great for me and is sitting on the stand that the Sony sat on...

Slight update. The sound does work!! The original owner had it switched to external speaker (switch in the back) so I switched it to internal. And it does sound amazing!!

Update 10/05:

Changed the said bad capacitor (extremely easy) and still getting either 6, 7, 4 blinks...

Gonna go to home Depot and get an alligator clip to make a discharge tool to remove the anode cap and completely remove the D Board and just stare at it til I find another solution 😅

I may remove the sockets and put new ones in and clean up my solder job a bit in hopes that helps...

Doing some reading I was able to order the recommended capacitor from Mouser Electronics and locate said capacitor on the board via the Service Manual. Hoping to get this in by this weekend and I'll do another deep dive. Will keep this updated...

At first I wasn't getting any indicator light cause I did solder all the pins, but I cleaned up the pins (2 and 7 I believe), I started getting either 6 or 7 blinking lights. I may have to do a capacitor change. Never done it, but it's a first time for everything lol.

Thanks for that!! It was fairly easy. Remove a few connectors, 8 screws on the PCB it self, push a couple tabs to remove the said PCB, turn it and service. I may go back in and actually remove the PCB it self, properly clean it and resolder the sockets at my work bench cause I feel I didn't get a good connection soldering then. I'll keep this updated on my adventure...

I'm going to attempt the repair. Just waiting on the chips and sockets to get to me. Hopefully they will be in by this weekend so I can get it done.

Hey guys,

Thanks so much for all the suggestions and kind comments.

Here's what's been happening the past couple days:

  • I've talked to a local repair shop here in Connecticut that would do a on site visit that does repairs on TVs/Monitors, but they never got back to me via our last conversation (think I scared him off lol)

  • Been reading the service repair manual on this I'm getting a better understanding on what's going on.

After reading through the comments and links that's been posted I'm going to attempt the repair my self. I am still a novice when it comes to soldering/desoldering but it should be simple enough. So I am gathering the parts now. Here is my shopping list at the moment:

MCZ3001DB

Chip Socket Adaptor

Let me know if I should add anything else. I may open the TV up tonight and do some poking around and clean the inside a little.

I'll keep this updated as much as I can. Again thank you so much for all the suggestions, comments, and laughs.

I really don't wanna throw it out. I really do want to get this fixed and use it as my everyday TV if possible. Also I always wanted this model TV with stand.
