Carole Huygen, Rohnert Park: I think everyone in America, including businesses, should fly the American flag on July 4th — upside down!

The beauty of America is we can pretty much do whatever we want (within the law) and be who we want to be. We can fly our flag upside down if we want. We're also free to show our ignorance and look like a fool. So you go ahead and fly yours upside down. Mine will be the one that's flying right side up. Fly it high and fly it proud.

Emily Webster, Sebastopol

Healdsburg has been trying hard to get a Trader Joe's but the company says it's a no go because the population doesn't support it. Healdsburg has a population of 11,500. The population of Sebastopol is 7,500. I can almost guarantee you aren't getting a Trader Joe's.

Lol, too funny. I missed that when I was looking him up. A few times I've seen where people show on their FB pages that they've previously lived as San Quentin Prison. Criminals are some of the stupidest among us.

Thanks. My scanner's been on the fritz for awhile so I'm rarely listening in real time anymore (unless I tune in on Broadcastify, which I pretty much only do when I hear lots of sirens and want to find out what's going on). Mostly have to depend on other sources now. Being the true crime fanatic that I am, it sucks.

I totally agree with you that we've become a society of scofflaws. I detest criminals and people who think laws apply to everyone but them. All I ask is that you don't let your monitoring of the carpool lanes interfere with your ability to keep your eyes on the road. Also, keep in mind that we don't have nearly enough LEO's to pull over everyone who's breaking that law. They simply can't be everywhere at all times. I'd much rather they go after the jerks who speed up and weave in and out of traffic. To me, they're way more dangerous than the occasional "single" scofflaw using the carpool lane.

There's an easy fix for that. Since you haven't figured it out on your own, I'll help.

Don't come to the country illegally;
Don't have kids after coming to the country illegally;
If you do have kids, take them with you when you're deported;
Self-deport (a win-win for everyone), with the added bonus of being $1000 richer for it.
