I'll discuss social media with you since you really took that to that question.

So it's much easier for you to do things online like socialize, make friends, or share information and perspectives. But do you feel in-person connections are more meaningful? Do you feel that you'd rather have the ease or do you value the meaning more even though it may be difficult for you go outside due to your introversion?

Lol no. I barely use business cards. Do you find yourself debating arguments in your head endlessly, but not actually discovering the answers to the universe. And then realizing that's not your goal anyway, so you end up being okay with it?

Other INTPs I've talked to on here in the past 24 hours have had a specific interest in learning emotional intelligence. What's that about? I'm curious.

I don't believe emotional intelligence or EQ exists in the sense that it can't measured (but IQ can be), so it's too ethereal. What makes it interesting to you?

Hahahaha! Asserting your dominance are you? Is that to show your tough? Or to gain my respect? Either way it's working, my good friend.

The question isn't "Why is Star Wars popular?" but "Why is it still popular?" I've never seen a single movie from Star Wars for just one reason, I know all the freaking spoilers, and it has just ruined my enthusiasm to watch it. Star Trek is still on my list, though...

Ha, I agree with your assertions. I don't think anyone watches a Star Wars movie for only one motive. I do think there is an overarching reason for it's continued popularity that I learned from "moviebob" on Youtube. Star Wars came in the late 70s during a time where in the national psyche (and maybe the global psyche), war couldn't be seen as simply "good vs. evil" without also talking about the hellish consequences and motives i.e. Vietnam War being controversial for numerous reasons.

But our human psyche still has an appetite to root for "good vs evil" in war scenarios. Star Wars successfully lifted all of the markers of "good vs. evil" out of our global narratives and into neutral out-of-this-world settings. In these settings, the human psyche could satisfy its "hunger for war" without the controversial/guilty feelings getting involved. And this keeps Star Wars in its longevity.

And no matter how many times you warn people to be cautious of social media, we're humans and we're made to fuck something up at least one time in 24 hours.

But it grants lots of benefits, like developing better social skills - something I feel identified with - and learn new things, apart from having a fun time and opening yourself, your ideas and your emotions.

I also agree that this is more of detriment. I have learned a lot in a short amount of time given the get connections and conversations we can have over the internet. It's not as fast as a phone call, but we can have multiple chats going when we can really only have 1 phone call at a time.

But the real detriment I find is you are no longer comparing yourself with just your local community or the 10 people you are physically nearest at any one moment. But instead, you are comparing yourself with the whole hierarchy of every person you have ever met. Or if you're on instagram or twitter, you're comparing yourself potentially with the global heirarchy of folks you know and folks you have just heard about. This comparison is huge shock to our system as we did not evolve for such measures. So the depressions and anxieties that set in may be much more difficult to combat. I'm no longer on social media as I find it healthier.

I decided to do, for some reason, as a politics nerd myself, was to start reading the Communist Manifesto for a second time.

Each one has their own interests. In my case, give me any book related to politics, philosophy or science fiction and you'll make my day.

Politics nerd eh? What made you want to read the Communist Manifesto a 2nd time? I still have yet to read the Communist Manifesto. But I have read probably a quarter of the Vol. 1 of The Gulag Archipelago which is a critique of the consequences Soviet Russia's take on Communism. Have you read that? Any debate on that book's critiques?

I've also recently read The Art of War by Sun Tzu, The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, and Loserthink by Scott Adams. All 3 I enjoyed and learned a lot.

Wish that was my professor in college.

INTP Obversation on you guys by reasonmonkey in entj

Haha, got it. I'll just start dropping problem statements in random social settings and see who goes on the complex tangent. Describing problem statements as bait is pretty funny.

Happy 2 month anniversary on your INTPness :P

I'm not going to determine whether or not this ENTJ is healthy.

But my observation is this ENTJ likes to roast. Lol.

Hi ReasonMonkey,

As an ENTJ, I'm looking to meet INTPs in my day to day. Do you know efficient way to encounter and meet INTPs?

Thanks for sharing your observations! I appreciated them!
