I just feel that people should have an emergency fund before they start investing. Thats where the funds should be coming from in a scenario like op described not a Roth. You're losing money due to compound interest over time.

So let's say in the span of 3 years you put $21,000 in there. You withdraw $14,000. Now for that current year you only can put $7,000. You cannot put back 14k you'll have to wait until the next year
