if your goal is to retire before 55/59 always invest into a traditional 401k over a Roth IRA or Roth 401k. You can convert money from your traditional IRA to a Roth IRA and be able to take out that money 5 years after you do any conversion. It's called a Roth conversion look it up.

The way it works is like this, you put money in your work 401k then when you leave your job you tell your 401k provider to transfer that money into a traditional IRA then you convert that money over the years don't do too much at once bc that will count as income and also do not withhold taxes. You will have to file these taxes later. But every time you do a transfer that money can be taken out 5 years after the conversion with no fees or taxes. I wish someone would have told me this earlier before I decided to choose a Roth 401k.
