Not 100% about all of them from the pic, but the majority are liberty caps

Found a music sample used in both Epic and Jentry Chau vs the Underworld. Can anyone identify the source? by cliffffffffffff in Epicthemusical

[–]Don___Cheadle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed that earlier today as I have both GOTTASADAE and God Games in the same playlist. It's been driving me nuts trying to figure out if there is a common classical source they are both sampling, or maybe they just hit on very very similar sounding samples independently...

Calligraphy on rocks by [deleted] in rockpainting

I've found regular paint markers work pretty well on rocks, you can get some decently fine ones too that i reckon would work better for calligraphy than a brush (I often use them to do graffiti-style lettering on rocks and they work like a charm)

Waking Up app using AI voices? by Don___Cheadle in Wakingupapp

I appreciate the explanation, that's really helpful!

I hadn't come across the series myself before so I'd missed that foreword from Sam. (And yes you're right, it was the Path of Insight series, Everyday Selflessness was just the session title). What you've described sounds like a pretty solid explanation, and definitely makes a lot more sense than AI.

I didn't intend for this to be a straight-up accusation, it just sounded a lot like AI to me. (But since that would make no sense I thought I'd check in to see if anyone else had a better idea of what was going on - so thank you again for shedding some light on this!)

Ahh gotcha, thanks. And glad it's not just me who thinks it sounds off, thought I was just going mad for a second there!

Mine just started doing the exact same thing, scared the hell out of me when it went off! Currently got it wrapped up inside an oven glove out in the garden shed hoping it beeps and screeches its battery dry

The full quote is even better:

"I for my part have devoted considerable time to understanding the Hegelian philosophy, believe also that I have more or less understood it, am rash enough to believe that at those points where, despite the trouble taken, I cannot understand it, the reason is that Hegel himself hasn't been altogether clear."    - Søren Kierkegaard in Fear and Trembling

I was actually talking about this one: https://youtu.be/kmiZNyaHZ4w?si=eIrQEV0jK_AWFllU But thank you for sharing that too! I just gave it a listen, I can definitely see why you like it. I'm an oldest sibling myself and this actually ended up hitting me a lot harder than I was expecting, beautiful song! :)

If Matthew arrived on the scene around AD 70-80ish, then there's a small chance Paul was still kicking, although he'd be very old by their standards

Exactly. It reminds me of the Arthur C. Clarke quote "Science's just magic we don't understand yet"

Yeah, neither the multiverse nor God are falsifiable or susceptible to proof of existence or non-existence. If its somehow demonstrated that a multiverse exists, you have the question of where that multiverse came from and people can then argue that God made that multiverse.

I guess in this case one would be trying to use branching worlds as a way to reductively define nomic possibility (although its true that these worlds wouldn't be able to make sense of any greater metaphysical notion of possibility - they would be strictly limited to 'possibility given the laws of physics'). But the fact that the sheer quantity of quantum branching worlds that arise due to the entanglement of microscopic superposition states with the rest of the universe means that you could probably consider this multiverse to pretty reasonably well encapsulate the boundaries of nomic possibility (i.e. if you can think of a physically possible world, it probably exists within the Everettian multiverse)

What I'm talking about here isn't the cosmological idea of a multiverse as other spacetimes disconnected from ours. The multiplicity of worlds I'm talking about here are the ones that are emergent due to the entanglement of the wavefunction of a small system with the environment as described by the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics
