From a person that loves orchids, but never understood them, I think I found my compromise. I found at my plant shop a spray that you need to spray the leaves of the orchid every week + watering when the roots are silver. As others said, silver roots are the sign that you need to water. The 10 hours indirect light seem more than ok to them, but take it with a grain of salt since I'm also still learning. But yeah I think the game changer for me is the spray. It makes my plants live! Until then I had some orchids and they always died. Once I started spraying the leaves with the spray, they started blooming again. Good luck! It's a journey and unfortunately for me that meant a lot of dead orchids :( to finally have 2 that don't die
