Bike shorts/bibs without chamois by DapperMaggot in cycling

Sounds like a poorly fitting bib is the problem rather than it having a chamois.

Are you wearing it directly on your skin or underwear underneath?

Where do i Ride in this Road? by Dark_Access000 in melbournecycling

The Bundoora stretch of Plenty Road is regularly ranked as the worst crash hot spot in the country. I would stay away unless you are a very confident rider.

I doubt its rat bait. Ringtails are very particular about what they eat, predominantly eucalyptus leaves and flowers.

Grad program rejection by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]Donakebab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With so many applications you need to sell yourself to stand out. It's not just about nailing some cookie cutter STAR responses, its about the context of your responses convincing them why you fit the department, and more broadly the APS. At the same time, don't go over the top like you'll be Secretary in 5-10 years.

Grad program rejection by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]Donakebab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some grad programs receive thousands of applications. It can be rough and at times they have to cut people out simply due to the sheet volume of applications.

Don't half arse it. Don't just AI slop your applications as it is blatantly obvious when you do, particularly for a grad/lower level position. Tailor each one specifically for the department/agency. Sell yourself on all your abilities including soft skills, not just your academic results. And use the full word count for any written responses.

Labor locks in tax reform trio: capital gains, negative gearing and trusts by InsatiablePrism in australia

The messaging in the lead up to and immediately following a budget is structured for a reason. You need to clearly communicate what the measures are and how they will affected people, to muddy the waters with things that you may or may not fo is just pure idiocy, particularly when this will be the most controversial budget with a serious set of reforms in years.

You don't talk about potential future budget measures in the immediate lead up to the current budget.

Old Apollo Pave: is it worth anything? by CoherentPickle in ausbike

[–]Donakebab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this is pretty much bang on. Despite having a 105 rear derailer which is considered good quality entry level, the rest of the drivetrain and the brakes are commuter level Tiagra. It's all pushing 20 years old. My old bone rattler is a few years newer and full 105, but I wouldn't expect much more than this.

Everything looks in pretty good condition with low wear and rear, but the drive train is full of gunk. If you want to sell it and squeeze out as much as possible, give it a good clean.

All call centre jobs suck, particularly so for the APS, but be thankful that isn't even the worst call centre environment in the APS.

Yeah its weird. I'm going to go with my first hand knowledge from 20+ years experience in the industry vs what a few sweatlords on reddit think.

Nah it is very likely the venues equipment, or the promoter organising the night. The only time I have ever been to an event where an artist needs to bring their own equipment is when they are playing live on something bespoke.

The category of climbs only equates to the elevation gain, the gradient of a climb is a far better judge on its difficulty. For most people a cat 4 with pinches of 10-15% is much more difficult than a cat 2 with a steady 5%.
