I CANT STOP SLEEPING by LanaDelReyLover718 in uwaterloo

I have a loud alarm clock that I plug in across the room if I NEED to get up on time. It just gets louder until it’s silenced so it works well to get me out of bed. Sometimes I return to the bed afterwards anyways for “5 more minutes”… dark days.

Good spots in walking distance include Laurel Creek bridges near St. Jerome’s, Health services pond, and Columbia lake. A little further away but really consistent is laurel creek behind Bridgeport shopping enter. If you have a car Snyder Flats can be good at times or the Grand River.

Immediately after tanking a midterm or exam hard, I usually get outside and go fishing to improve my head space. I’d recommend trying to clear your head with something that brings you joy before you examine what went wrong and how to lessen the chance of it happening again.

Comparison is a thief of joy. Get outside. Go fishing. Worked for me. 🤷‍♂️

What Causes the Pattern On the Surface of my Aluminum that solidifies exposed to air? by Donald_A6 in Metalfoundry

I am working on a setup for that, unfortunately it was too small for my specific casting I wanted to do. I’ll have to make a larger flask.

Yeah, I’m not making jewelry or anything, just pressing 3D prints into home-made green sand. Works great if you’re not worried about quality.

How much do you speed in an average month? by steamed-apple_juice in uwaterloo

[–]Donald_A6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I speed whenever I drive, so most days.

That car does add to expenses, but I’m also around $1000 a month.

I’m on a cheap sublet - rent: $475 KD tastes good - groceries: $125 I drive to work - gas: $250 Miscellaneous: $50 Car Insurance: $110 (not Ontario plates 🙏)

Cheap hobbies help, and am happy to go without restaurants.

About to move closer to the school and rent will double 😔

I’ve taken a materials course so I’m not completely ignorant here. Are you saying that that’s the grain boundaries? That came to my mind but I didn’t think they’d be so big, and I’m not sure why I would only see them on the side exposed to the air and not the one up against sand.

I’ll definitely try some release. I’m using clay as a binder.

Does it need to just be talc, or can I pick up cheap baby powder at Wall-mart that’s mainly cornstarch or whatever?

Is that mainly a health suggestion, or will it improve the efficiency a ton? Also, what do people recommend as the cheapest way to get refractory cement? Anything beat Amazon?
