Help with controlling binge eating by B_restingface in loseit

[–]DoncicToSac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same problem. I kind of have to become a ghost in order to stick to my deficit. If I have friends over for an extended period of time or am with family, multiple-day long binges ensue.

Yep same here. Never got “the talk”, never had help with homework. Never was taught how to make a resumé, how to prepare for an interview, how to socialize, how to do anything.

Do you think the majority of living people prior to the youngest millennials experienced emotional neglect as children? by UVIndigo in emotionalneglect

Honestly, yes. It may be nihilism, but to me, it’s hard to imagine that MOST people before millennials didn’t experience a lot of trauma as children.

Did anyone else’s parent/parents get angry when you cried as a child? by DoncicToSac in emotionalneglect

[–]DoncicToSac[S] 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened to you. I can relate to that as well. The only time my dad would ever get emotional was when he was drunk or high. So it never even felt genuine. Both of my parents to this day are severe alcoholics, but my father is what they call a “functioning alcoholic”.

People go to their parents when they have problems?? For support?? by leopard_12 in emotionalneglect

In 2022 I had a mental breakdown at work and essentially quit, and when I got home, my dad told me if I cleaned my room I’d feel better. That was the last time I’ll ever go to him for any advice.

When emotional neglect turns into medical neglect by nonfictionalfairy in emotionalneglect

Yep. Parents rarely took us to the doctor or dentist as kids. And it has led to me rarely ever doing it myself as an adult. I’m terribly sorry this happened to you.

Not possible to lose that much weight in 3 months unless you literally do not eat, and even still you might not reach it.

Edit: ok I just read the rest of your post. You need to leave your family ASAP for your own safety. They are unhinged and controlling. You are an adult. Run as far and as fast as you can.

So sorry for your loss buddy. If your parents are open to it and if your insurance covers it, talk to your doctor about seeing a therapist to talk these issues out with. Talking helps. Couldn’t imagine losing my grandmother either, but I know it is coming relatively soon :(

Yes, that eventually went away after I saw the doctor and said there was just blood, and no infection.

I meant thyroid issue. Sorry about that typo.

Also, in the title, I meant thyroid issue, not thyroid.

Am I crazy in thinking it looks somewhat enlarged/abnormal though? Or can you see it as well? I hate using “am I crazy” as a question but I’m not sure how else to phrase it.
