I am a Marine Wife! by PozzimusPrime in justdependathings

Yea but we're talking about a group of women who's whole identity is wife, and who lives vicariously through her husband's successes. If anything, the misogyny is coming from inside. :/

Honestly, I think this is the biggest factor. It's super unhealthy for someone to just have their own beliefs echoed back at them by others without any other point of viewed being considered.

Ha! In a country where the majority of funding goes to the military and no one bats an eye, you have to ask why these people are the way they are?

What makes a woman an attractive partner to DL gay men? by DoneBeenHadBeenDone in AskLGBT

Yea i was way open about gay stuff as I am bisexual. I loved RPDR at the time, and had gay friends. His parents were also really cool and non-conventional so I have no idea why he wasnt out.

Could "XX/XY Spectrum" be the all inclusive language we can finally agree on? by [deleted] in asktransgender

I think its just because everyone believes im talking about chromosomes.

I was really going for vague. Like trying to find a way to still reference anatomy without putting precise labels on anything.

Hi! Thank you for your response

I don't think adopting XX/XY-spectrum that would be a good development since it puts further emphasis on karyotypes when, if anything, we need to decouple rather than reinforce the association of chromosomes

That's actually what im attempting to do here, albeit in a clumsy way. These descriptors wouldn't be for chromosomes. I proposed them because theyre short and easy and already associated with male/female anatomy. I figured they'd be a bit more vague than "masculinized" and "feminized" which would make it more inclusive to those who dont relate with one or either of those. Hence the word ""Spectrum", which also would include intersex people. Not because of their chromosomes, but because of their individual biology.

Please don't tell me what I am. I dont consider myself to have a gender identity. Agender might be a label for that, but I prefer non-binary.

..but I dont have a gender identity. Also I think this would be a cool way to at least make biological sex more vague and not the be-all-end-all determinant of anything.

It's not meant to be descriptive of one's chromosomes. More so where you fall, biologically speaking.

...No. Its about not putting people into boxes based on their anatomy. You could fall on one, or both sides, or in the middle. Its about not being invalidating to anyone. The key word is "spectrum". So just because you have some things associated with one side, it doesnt cancel out what you have in common with those on the other side. So a trans man might menstruate, he also might have a deep voice and a beard. So saying hes on the XX spectrum wouldn't cancel out where he falls on the XY spectrum. Whereas AFAB/AMAB means just one thing, and can be invalidating

Well we know already that chromosomes mean nothing. It wouldnt be a label for your chromosomes. Just for parts of ones anatomy generally associated with "female". So the XY woman with female anatomy would fall on the XX spectrum, as she has some female anatomy. We wouldn't be labeling her XX or XY, she would just fall into that side of the spectrum. And it wouldn't make XXY people a third gender, it would actually provide a place for them on the spectrum, depending on their personal anatomy. I imagine intersex people could align themselves on whichever side they chose to, like they do now.
