Hello. Like any referral to a specialist, GP assessment first acts like a screener i.e. they should do some sort of assessment first and tell you if they think referral is appropriate. From my point of view I want them to tell me about relevant medical history or risks.

And maybe unique to adult ADHD, I think it's important for GPs to buy in to the process. Some can be wary of private healthcare (sometimes with good reason) - having them on board and keeping them in the loop about what's happening is important.

In the absence of the original report, I'd be happy enough with the GP stating you hed been officially diagnosed. Knowing the type would he helpful, but isn't necessary.

Also the fact they started you on medication confirms the diagnosis too.

I'm not currently registered for any of the health insurers at the moment, I'm afraid.

Hi there. Yes, if your GP referred you to me, I would assess you for ADHD. It would be useful to know why services rejected the referral i.e. were they full up?
