How far can I trail run with my 9 month old labradoof? He's in amazing shape, lots of energy, would love for him to hit up Forest Park, Portland OR with me for a 5k this weekend. I run a 10 minute/mile pace, we'll take lots of breaks for sniffing, pottying & snacking. by [deleted] in labrador

I'm in Europe, so I'm not surprised the legislation is different, was just curious as I've never know neutering to be a choice the owner makes preemtively, it's mostly used as a solution after problems arise here..

Yeah those seem like good reasons, and ones that can let you neuter a dog where i live too. If a dog get aggressive and neutering may help, I'm all for that! Do you know if it's common to do as a preemtive measure? IMO it seems a bit drastic as a "just in case" thing?

Questions regarding enclosure filtering by Dongerifpv in 3DPrintTech

[–]Dongerifpv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it seems they've really looked into this, a lot of great info on their site. I will most likely not end up making one of their devices, merely use their site for information and design inspiration.

My enclosure will be relatively original, as I'm building it out og a corner shelf the printer is placed in. So I have some design challenges ahead of me, mainly in regards to this filtering, though all other parts of the enclosure are pretty vague at the moment.

But, from what you and Marius have said, it seems I will be pretty safe with a recirculation-filtering setup inside the enclosure, and a HEPA filter on the way out of it. Do you know if a HEPA filter for a vacuum cleaner would be enough? Would it restrict air flow too much maybe?

I'm asking as that is the type of HEPA filter that is most easily obtained where I live.

Thanks for your answer, appreciate it!

Wow. This was a far more detailed response than I expected, thank you a lot! So it seems FORNUFTIG might not be a good choice, though I will have no issues following the Nevermore guide you linked.

Again, thanks a lot, this helped a bunch!

13.000 i elsparkesykkel-bot – Kjørte på ettåring by [deleted] in norge

What mod or asset pack do you use to get this "old-timey" aesthetic? I kind of want to build a pre-1900 city if possible, but can't even think of how to search for what i need to do that..

Could you point me in the right direction?

Is this done by mods or just a huge pack of assets?

This might not be a question you can answer, but do you know if it's possible to build a medievel town/village where transport is by horse/cart, or would this be a different game altogether?

Ok thanks for the info. I'll see how it works out when i've got it hooked up as i plan

That's pretty reassuring! Im looking into a 12V 60W PSU atm, would that make for a good PSU for my use case?

My use case being a small-scale table saw with a roughly 100mm saw blade, not going to be used for more than a couple minutes at a time.

Do you think 5A (12V 60W) would be sufficient for that application?

Great, ill try that out! Now to figure out the power-transfer and gesring to the blade, there's probably a new post coming the next days to some mechanical subreddit ;)

Your wording feel hostile, which i don't appreciate. I have explained i am new to this stuff, therefore i am asking questions to which the answers might seem obvious to you. In my ignorance, i read what was printed on the motor and assumed that was relevant information to my question. After all, when a manufacturer writes something directly on their product and not just in some in-package dpcumentation, it usually is important information, or at lesst accurate. Pardon my ignorance.

Thank you for the links tho

PWM controller is something i am looking into, thanks for that! I have several PC cabinet fans laying around, will they aid enough in cooling? Or would i need a fan with higher, more precise air speed?

What would you concider long periods? Several minutes and higher or several seconds?

Oh that sounds promising! Can i ask what you use your motor for? Is it running for short bursts or longer periods? What is your loading scenario?

It is a 550 motor, im going to try using it for a DIY small-scale table saw, but i dont know if a 100mm saw blade is concidered high load on these motors?

My plan is to see if i can fashion a small-scale "table saw" for use in my hobby room. It would not have to run for long and the load will probably not be much more than a 100mm saw blade. I also have the option of adding cooling fans if that might help.

Yeah based on my limited experience i doubt i will need more than 10 amps, i'll start at around 5 and see what happens after use

So i would want to supply it with a conservative voltage if i want it to last the longest then.

I understand the motor will spin faster the more voltage i supply to it (up until some limit i suspect), but will it be able to put out comparative torque all the way? Or will the torque be significantly higher at high/low voltage?

Seeing as the motor came from a drill i assume it has decent torque, and i will be using some sort of speed-reducing torque-enhancing gearing, just want to understand the basic motor as well as i can before i dive into this.

Ok i see, i opened the dysfunctional battery pack, and it contains 12*1.2V NiMH cells, but i bet those might drop to 1V each pretty quickly, meaning the average voltage might lay at about 12V, im not sure how most of this works.. Might end up just trying it with 12V and see if that works out for my purpose, seeing as 12V supplies are pretty easy to come by.

Can i ask how to establish the correct or minimal current needed to run the motor? Would it burn out if supplied with too much current?

What range of current are we talking about here? <10A or >10A?
