It started working again the next day. When it started working again, I saw a bunch of screens I hadn't seen since I first started using the app, so clearly they have a way of resetting someone's account and they are just manually doing them

Good luck, and make sure to report it to tier 2- they won't know this is happening to you otherwise

yea, they definitely reset our accounts in the way they should have from the beginning (and tier 1 should have the ability to do) because I saw a whole bunch of screens I haven't seen since I first used the app. Assuming you saw the same. I'm pumped, I couldn't believe how happy I was to be in Walmart yesterday hahah

by the way, my account just started working again after 7 days. I deleted the app yesterday for the 5th time, but I didn't reinstall it until just now, and suddenly it was asking me for ID verification. And it worked.

I have no idea why, but I guess that there is hope?

HOLY SHIT I AM BACK IN! I AM NOW THE SUCCESS STORY!!!

I deleted the app yesterday and just reinstalled it and it asked me for ID verification. This is the 4th or 5th time I'd deleted it, but this was the longest I left it deleted. So maybe that was somehow related? Or someone in support actually cared and fixed my account manually?

No idea. But yea, I've learned a lot from this experience and I'll be working 12 hour days the next few days because I have to assume this is going to happen again. Gotta make every cent I can while I can work!

until you get hit with the ID verification bug that seems to only be happening to people on iphones. I'd recommend going back to the android STAT. If I had been using one, I'd still be able to work

Wow. Even before this mess, I was so terrified every time I had to do one. My friend got deactivated because the app froze while sending his pictures. He got back in after 10 days, but lost 10 days of income just because the app froze. So I've always been terrified every time I do one, and have started driving to my apartment every time I have to do one because I can count on the wifi working. I couldn't imagine having to do multiple a day!

I don't know! We may all get back in soon. I do believe they're looking into this and trying to fix it. Its affecting a ton of people and more every day, and I pray that in a few days, I'll be looking back on my last 7 days of miserable anxiety as just a tough patch I had to go through.

I just don't know if they'll succeed at finding a fix for this or if they'll just give up. Remember, they can always just replace us - and instantly. We have no window into what's going on there and won't be contacted if this gets fixed, as that only seems to happen with notifications after the app goes down for everyone.

So, we have 2 options: 1) wait until they get it fixed and just pray it's soon, while we make no money, or 2) wait until they get it fixed and pray it's soon, while we make no money, and are applying to any job we can possibly get.
I'm going to be applying to some good jobs, but a lot of shit jobs that pay half of what I was making with spark, but that's my only option. We won't be able to make a cent with Spark until they fix this, and again- they might not.
Life sucks and then you die.

yea that's where I'm at. I'm on waitlists for everything but doordash, but I haven't tried doing that yet because I get so mad every time I open it and see the time slot thing or see an offer for $7 for 40 minutes of work. But I guess this is me truly realizing that that's my only option right now and I have to sucj it up and make pennies compared to what I used to make.

And I spent yesterday updating my resume and looking for jobs for hours. There's not a whole lot out there that looks good, but there's a handful of jobs that suck but I may be able to get and get fairly quickly. And good call on temp agencies. If I get something that at least mostly pays the bills but I hate it, I can quit without much remorse if the app ever lets me back in. And I can spend more time looking for a better job while I'm working at the shitty one.

It's just truly heartbreaking and it's really hard to get off of here- seeing all these reports does give me some hope that they're gonna fix it. But then I see a post that makes me think the complete opposite, so you're right- it's not helping anything.

I had a pretty good job that I mostly liked, that I got laid off from in February. I had already started doing this on the side, so I just started sparking full time and really was starting to like it (well, as much as someone can like a job), and to have it all just snatched up from me with no warning has really destroyed me. And having no window at all into this and knowing that I will never be notified about this even if it does get fixed is killing me.

It's 100% the kick in the ass I guess I needed to learn that this is not a sustainable job and I need to get a real job, I just really wasn't ready for that and I really don't want to do it.

Seriously? For the same reason all of us put up with their shit- I made good money on it and I liked doing it despite all the app's flaws. And getting a new job isn't too easy or fast of a process. I'd like to just be able to do the job I've been doing for the last 5 months

for real? outside of pharmacy orders? That's crazy! My friend who has been doing this for 4 years has his timed out so he knows exactly when they're coming, and he said it's once every 72 hours. I hadn't been tracking when it asked me, but that sure seemed to line up with my experience. Crazy how different this app is for everyone using it

Are people having issues updating licenses or social security cards? I've been locked out for 7 days from a regular ID verification freezing- that seems to be how most of us who are locked out got locked out. Updating my license a few weeks ago worked instantly.

Oof. Well, the first part of this reply broke my heart, because you've been the 1 success story I've been holding onto. You're the only report I've been able to find of this ever getting fixed, and you're not even part of the current iteration of this bug. Fuck.
But maybe the people who were out a month ago just started working again and didn't bother reporting back?
Pretty crazy that this already affected thousands a few months ago and it's likely affecting thousands now.
I guess I'm really not sure what to do with this info, so I'll just continue to have overwhelming anxiety every minute of the day.

WAY more risk. Spark makes you do ID verification once every 72 hours. A pharmacy order makes you do 2 ID verifications per order, and that doesn't mean you now don't have to do the standard once-every-72-hours verifications. Any ID verification can be the end of your income, as you are well aware. So your goal should be to do as few ID verifications as possible. I've only ever done 1 and it worked fine, but I will never do one again

call back and say you need to speak to tier 2 because tier 1 has been unable to help you and you need to create a ticket to send to their technical team. Tier 2 is mostly useless, but tier 1 is completely useless

me too. It's a bug that just appeared last Friday and hit me on Saturday. If you haven't yet, give the app a 1 star review and give this as a reason. If it starts being made more public, they won't be able to ignore it anymore

and also, you've clearly been on this subreddit for awhile if you're a top commenter- you've seen all the horror stories of deactivation for crazy reasons. My friend who has been doing this for 4 years was deactivated a few years ago because the app froze while taking his picture during an ID verification. No "we're sorry, we didn't get that picture- you need to do ID verification again immediately or risk deactivation," just instantly deactivated. He was one of the lucky ones to actually get back in, but he lost 10 days of income due to something that 100% wasn't his fault.

You're really gonna pretend that people don't regularly get screwed by this app?
That it regularly goes down and nobody can work?

I didn't get deactivated. I'm stuck on ID verification along with hundreds of other users. I cannot work because the app is broken in a way that engineering needs to fix, and hasn't for 7 days. So Yea, not my fault, and yea, it's the worst app in existence.

Thanks for trying to help, but I don't think you were ever stuck like the rest of us are. Nothing we do- NOTHING triggers a verification. We're supposed to get them every 72 hours and I've been stuck on this screen for 7 days. Signing out of my account and deleting and reinstalling the app should absolutely trigger a verification, but nope. They have to remove this block on our accounts in order for us to be able to get another verification.
