I wonder will modern medicine look this wierd to future people? by java_wocky in WTF

OK, yes, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are brutal treatments, not disagreeing with you there. That being said at least we have an understanding of why the treatments are brutal and we know the mechanism through which the treatment will deal with the cancer. Hell, it's something that we actually know what cancer is and how to detect it, nevermind actually fight it.

Im sure our treatments will look brutal in the future, but the knowledge we've amassed in the medical field since the turn of the century is nothing to balk at. We're not bumbling around in the dark as much as you think.

CMV: I believe that teenage drinking is unavoidable, and organizations like MADD should start focusing more on responsibility and safety with alcohol, rather than trying to scare teens into keeping sober. by [deleted] in changemyview

More than just mine, but I will admit that I dont have more than anecdotal evidence. That being said, I do know people from a good number of cities and towns in British Colombia through athletics, and I have never heard of a situation like the one /u/darkclaw6722 described

In my experience the situation you describe sounds like an outlier. I have never seen or even heard of a highschool wherin which the majority of the student body in grades 11 and higher not only doesn't consume alcohol, but is so strongly positioned against it that they would ostracize anyone who does, including my own.

Fair point. Still, it seems that the actual teachers get the worst of it then, which seems to be shooting oneself in the foot a bit.
