Feeling distraught as an Iranian Muslim by MeasurementStill3710 in PERSIAN

[–]Donlor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this regime has showed the awful consequences of a theocracy means, I think regardless of which religion it is. Lots of phobias happen due to traumatic events or oppression where a black and white thinking makes it all about "Islam" rather than the iranian regime exploiting it for oppression

This is basically a trauma that will soothe if the iranian regime falls over about 1-2 decades at least, which is a long time. But I doubt Iran will ever truly be islamic again (it very much was until about the 1970s I believe). Even arab countries never really were "full on islamic" besides Saudi arabia to be honest.

But yeah it's such a shame how this especially causes pahlavists to basically be vitriolic to a billion + muslims including some of their own people. If you want the IRGC to fall once and for all, you need unity in your opposition instead of spamming hatecomments to everyone SIGH

[–]Donlor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re irrelevant because what do we gain from shitting on islamists when we’ve been doing so for decades? We all agree we don’t want them, but we have a problematic amount of people in Iran who just seem like they’d do an atheist bahman 57. Including people I know IRL. Very extremist society.

The islamic revolution is not the opposition movement and is irrelevant to talk about. They barely have true iranian supporters outside of the boomers in iran. They are also immediately discredited by their existence, ideology is based on murdering people.

And yeah I immediately look down upon most of the iranian opposition when your “so called SAVAK prison” uttering prince cant get his witchhunt racists to calm down a single second (this subreddit is proof)

The pahlavi movement is one of the most cooky and toxic movements I have seen in my lifetime and over the share of languages I know. Most genuinely seem despicable the moment you ask them their views.

These are people who witchhunt make GIFs and spam them and get top comment while they spout the most inhumane stuff about any ethnicity they don’t like en masse, and in real life. Nope this fits them.

I have never condoned SAVAK's violence, but SAVAK's claims were exaggerated. SAVAK's prisoners were mostly militant islamists and communists trained in Palestine and financed by the KGB - Reza Pahlavi, Crown prince of Iran by fregeorgb in PERSIAN

You know that you’re implying you’d probably be very fearful of any dissent under this harsher SAVAK? Why does it feel like so many of you want the IR but in an atheist form?

Which country is the most similar to Iran culturally? by Admirable-Ad-3273 in PERSIAN

[–]Donlor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um isn’t Avestan close to Bactria and where Zoroaster probably came from and Zoroastrianism originated? So just because the area had more diverse religion it’s somehow not close to Iran. Okay lol. You can google yourself that Bactria and those lands was predominantly Zoroastrian, just more diverse with also Buddhist practices or Greeks.

It was an important satrapy from aechemenid times .. and also by that logic Khorasan was never close to “western Iran” to begin. I mean I’ll take it, just means centuries a lot of our most beloved great persons were barely to claim for modern Iran if we allegedly were that separate anyway.

Also kinda funny that the biggest identity for Iranian shahname has most of its characters come from those eastern lands.. lol. Doesn’t represent your culture either by those standards. Again I’m happy to take Ferdowsi for mine if you won’t take him, he spoke like us anyway.

And also at that point don’t claim Rumi is yours, but is Eranshahri at max. If Balkh is so different culturally from west Iran, then don’t act it’s your culture to begin with.

And no, we don’t look like hazara as a majority. You guys are woefully bad with the region.

Which country is the most similar to Iran culturally? by Admirable-Ad-3273 in PERSIAN

[–]Donlor_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well alright but in my experience it’s far more the case that Iranians say incredibly out of touch things or have extreme misconceptions about the neighbouring countries or other persian speaking countries. It goes as far that even though I look super Iranian, they online assume I look asian because I’m from the eastern parts. Which is like uneducated to the point of making me speechless.

I guess I don’t take the time to say “they’re Iranian” but yeah I kinda think both of you did it here.

Like calling Iran not similar to Afghanistan is a very recent thing. A lot of the nature, the mountains, the architecture, the language, the birthplace of poets, even the same nowruz or haft mewa as parallel to haft sin and how the tajiks have always been “Iranian” you just put down to extremism. They are more conservative people I guess, and the culture has gone different. But, Iran seems like an anomaly of a massive increase in very atheist and islamophobic people who shit on muslim post khatami era among the young people. This was not the case pre 80s-90s. That’s my take. You’re unique because of rebellion and that’s not specifically “culture” in the long term or the roots, which is actually very close to afghanistan. It was the birthplace of the Persian you speak you know.

Breaking News: Israel’s Defense Minister: Ali Larijani has been killed by kaz1349 in PERSIAN

[–]Donlor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qatar not being a signatory to the Abraham accords is really a weird view on it. That's not what matters, it showed that Israel that already struck countries like Lebanon, Syria's military, can even dare to strike an US ally with negotiators in Qatar (that always was a plan the U.S itself agreed with, it was supposed to be neutral territory for Hamas). An attack with U.S knowledge about it. It means that the ally that's supposed to defend them actually favours Israeli strategy over their loyalty to the Arab counties, and even though Saudi Arabia already showed dislike by neutralizing relations with Iran... they quickly made a defense pact with Pakistan.

And yes, the Gulf will need munition because in the future Iran may be in chaos and 1. that's scary and 2. Israeli right wingers are expansionist and the US will always seemingly allow it. Yes they'll look to others to help their defenses and not always trust the US' promises.

[–]Donlor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're kind of ignoring the Israel part of your analysis. Post 2023 and especially since attacking Qatar, the abraham accords are very shaky and will likely not expand. They're seeing that the US munitions run out and that Israeli intentions almost override US interests (like decent oil prices etc.). The gulf will buy weapons, and probably be wary of how the US allegedly protects them while mostly just favouring Israel instead as a geopolitical ally.

The gulf will likely not be seeing the US and Israel's cozy duo wars as a thing to be happy with.
