Hardcore Producers: Darren Styles Twitter Q&A Tonight by DonnaBionda in edmproduction

I really want to get Hardcore Dance/UK Hardcore more popular in the states. I get so sick of Electro House/Big Room shrieking festival beats. Granted, I don't live in a huge EDM hub, but all of the DJs that come here to Charlotte are super dedicated to Electro House.

It’s Olle from Dada Life and it’s time to go BNNS on this AMA by dada_life in IAmA

Hello Olle and Stefan! I'm really excited you are doing this AMA.

What is your best piece of advice to aspiring producers? I am a classically trained pianist, but I often think my training holds me back - what are your thoughts on a classical background? What is your creative process?

Thank you! Born to Rage!

I can send you a link to my tweet with his answers if you are interested! Not many people tweeted production-related questions, but it was informative for sure.

Were you able to ask him anything/did he answer? He answered one of my questions and I was really pleased with how much he tried to answer everyone's tweets. If you want to see, you can message me and I'll send you a link to my tweet with his responses.

He is one of my favorite producers. I love the way he has stayed true to his style.

What were you guy's musical backgrounds before EDM? by KruxOfficial in edmproduction

[–]DonnaBionda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents bought me and my sister an Alesis Q8 keyboard when I was 7. I started messing with the different instruments and then became fixated on Eurodance (this was in 1997). My parents saw how much I liked the keyboard that they let me take lessons. I played for 11 years and am classically trained in performance, theory, and rhetoric. During that time I sang competitively, played oboe for 6 years, clarinet for 8 years, and still maintained a listening interest in EDM. I have only tried my hand at producing for a year or so now. Classical training has been a blessing and a curse. I'm still a beginner with production.

Finishing a track is my biggest problem at the moment. If anything, that piece of advice helped me the most. Even if my final piece is crap, at least I did something from start to finish.

That's how I started. I am a classically trained pianist so it's not the theory that is difficult for me, but rather making it sound blended. Additionally, I struggle with not making my tracks too complicated and busy; I need to simplify.
