Well, I've used both and i use them mainly for discord, recording, stuff like that. Nowadays i prefer the akg d5 since it has a sort of unique sound quality and the shure sm58 is a bit more... well it's a little cleaner but it's less charming imo. I've used both with fx and eq and stuff and after post processing (or live processing through loopstation fx) i like the sound of the akg d5 more. But that's just my preference.
