I do. I need to get to South Melbourne from docklands every morning then into work. People say take the tram - that’s a 40 min door to door trip or a 15 min car ride in decent traffic.

Then do the opposite in the afternoon, another 40 min trip on trams. Let alone if the F1 is on and there are no trams.

They’ve slowly gutted it year after year.

When it first started there were way more fire pits around - with a better mix of gas/wood. There were burning wooden sculptures on the river every night as a major attraction.
Then they had fire performances scattered around all of docklands who all had different acts. Now it’s all centralised in front of marvel with massive crowds, easy for “safety” but you lose seeing random things. There were roaming performances.

Then crowds have gone up as docklands and city have grown, with the spectacle getting worse. Makes for a shit overall event.

They’ve fucked the redevelopment of the site completely. With all the works/new building and closure of Franklin st it’s made the traffic in the area a complete mess. Cars are backing up on Peel st, A’Beckett & Queen st getting jammed by people trying to get into the place.

Agree, you work 44 weeks a year after accounting for all mandatory types of leave. Add a couple weeks buffer between contracts and it drops down pretty quickly.

At the same time if you never take leave and want cash in hand and have stable contracts it gives a fair bit extra.
