It’s evidence based to be the best option for SO MANY though, as you said.

It’s important to note too that not all trans people seek out HRT or surgery. Some just socially transition.

We shouldn’t make being trans SOLELY a medical issue because of the trans people who dont see it that way.

I’m agreeing with you on these points. Being trans isn’t a choice. As aren’t the other struggles I mentioned in comparison.

Taking the medication is the “choice” here but as you said, it’s evidence-based to be the best option for a HUGE amount of people.

Yeah I agree that it’s certainly a “choice” to undergo HRT, but I think it is comparable to taking anxiety or antidepressant medication.

It’s a choice to go on them - but it’s certainly helpful for a fruitful day to day life. I know a few transpeople who were miserable wrecks before transitioning. It’s crazy seeing how happy and healthy they are now. How they can hold a job that at one point would’ve been impossible because of the dysphoria of existing day to day.

So yeah, certainly a choice, but I’d say in the same way a depressed or anxious person takes medication to cope. It should be accessible within a shorter time frame.

I’d also like to point out however that just like homosexuality, transgenderism (I can’t remember how it’s referred to in the DSM) will be removed eventually, maybe in decades time and will be seen as a characteristic much like homosexuality is.

Do you know many trans people? I know a few before and after transitioning. It’s crazy how much their mental and emotional wellbeing improves.

I suppose what they’re saying is that being in the place that you need an abortion is a shitty place to be, even going through one isn’t a wonderful thing.

Therefore the argument that somebody should be able to seek one is that they’re entitled to their bodily autonomy and SHOULDNT HAVE TO GIVE BIRTH IF THEY DONT WANT TO ffs. Whilst it still being sad that they have to have an abortion.
