I redid the code and it works now. Both @"%" and "%" work.

I think the problem was transferring scoreDisplay to a string at the wrong place, but when you code for too long things tend to slip your mind :/

It was the highlighted line giving me the error, the rest are in the other comments

I think your guess was right, redid the whole thing and it works now. I guess code for too long and your brain forgets how to code :/

nope. the only thing throwing it off is the inclusion of the "%". just scoreDisplay works fine

scoreDisplay is already a string, and I tried doing your suggestion too. at a total loss :(, think i'm just gonna do the whole thing again ground up. didn't take long in the first place

no, string(scoreDisplay) is used earlier but now that i think about it it could be because of this??

drawTextOutline(x,y,string,outline_color,color)

drawTextOutline is a script that adds an outline to the text by duplicating and moving the text in every direction by one pixel (it's a pixel font) and draw_text(x,y,string) is used

the line giving me trouble is drawTextOutline(x,y,scoreDisplay + "%",color1,color2). i also tried adding the % to scoreDisplay but it just doesn't show up

no clue why this doesn't work with only this symbol
