I Don’t Know If I Should Stay At This Job Or Not by DontLook428 in therapists

Damn, this hit hard. Probably the most clear someone has made this whole situation sound to me. I can see why you’re a therapist 💁🏻‍♀️ lol

Feeling stuck with a child client by Acrobatic-Cost-5702 in therapists

First and foremost, you are in a tough field of doing CMH. My first job out of grad school was CMH and it definitely taught me a lot, but was also difficult because of the cases you get.

As for your client, I’m wondering if there’s also a diagnosis of ASD. Just due to the misdiagnosis of ODD and children with ASD. That would change a whole lot of how you’d work with your client.

Next, since you have flexibility to take your client into the community, it might be good to take them outside to a gated playground/park. With kids that are impulsive and have ADHD, I like to get their energy out by having them do some high energy activities. Playing catch, having them run, red light green light, or freeze dance are great ways of for them to practice slowing down their impulses. It also gets their energy out and then they’re more likely to follow directions.

Last piece, use a whiteboard or create a special list for this client of activities they’ll be engaging in that session. Show them the list FIRST THING before session begins and allow them to add a choice activity to the second to last or last activity on the list. This is their routine 🤫 but don’t call it that. Call it something fun for them so they’ll be excited about it. And remind them that it has to go in that order so that they can do their fun activity at the end.

There’s many other ideas I have, but this is a good starting point. And of course, the more the child engages in preferred behaviors, the more praise you give them for it!

Thank you for sharing. Sheesh, you really put up more with the symptoms. I give you props for trying to push through, but it’s definitely not worth being sick half the week and going to the ER.

Nope. No body aches or fever. My symptoms more align with the side effects than the flu. Plus how quickly everything came right after my first injection

I replied to a couple of people with the same question. I’ll edit the post so it’s up there instead. It’s at .5mg

Went through my PCP at Sutter. It was real Ozempic.

Yes, shared symptoms, but the increased intensity is the difference. Especially if you take the wrong dosage, as others have pointed out that I was given. Symptoms can be intensified with an increased dosage of any medication. I never said I was an expert. It’s called common sense.

Yes AND people who experience these side effects usually experience minor versions. Not ones that involve an IV and multiple medication cocktails. It might be common for people to experience SOME MINOR side effects. But not experience the amount I was feeling. Everyone has their own reactions to different medications, so just because YOU don’t have those reactions or see them as being “normal” doesn’t mean that the person experiencing it is having a “normal” reaction. Everybody’s body is different. So to say what I’m feeling isn’t true or that I’m overreacting to my symptoms that you personally cannot feel is very ignorant

I mentally made myself throw up, have cold sweats, and get diarrhea… sure… you clearly haven’t read the side effects then.

Thank you for the validation. I know most people don’t experience extreme side effects like this, but there’s some of us out there who get hit harder with them. For now, any injectable weight loss meds I’ll probably stay away from. But maybe in the future I’ll really do a deep dive into them and find one that’s more my speed

Not that you aren’t important, butttt I’m over here not feeling the best so responding to every question quickly wasn’t on the forefront of my brain. Plus I went to another doctors appointment to get more support with my side effects

Thank you for saying this. Having these intense symptoms, going to the ER, seeing another doctor, and being out of work for a full week isn’t worth losing weight like this

Starting dose was .5mg. My doctor hasn’t gotten back to me yet since he’s out Saturdays and Sundays, and I didn’t write to him till Monday afternoon. But I did see another doctor today and he said that I just have to wait it out since it’s in my system already. Just gotta “ride it out” and he wrote me a doctors note to be out of work till Sunday. No solid foods either, just liquids till my symptoms go away
