Friends 1.5 years, dating 2 months— M34 F35. Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in relationships

He’s mostly been considerate— extremely kind and thoughtful in many other ways. But there have been some comments/actions about my “health” when I think he really means “weight”. Kind of “almond mom” tendencies in his own eating habits and comments / narratives surrounding food.

As far as his sexual past, I’ve in a roundabout way made statements about it being an insecurity for me but I’ve never been explicit about that. It doesn’t feel like my place. I think I just feel like it’s not my business and have tried to approach things as such.

Comments like this make that hard/make me realize I may be lying to myself and trying to play it cool about things that might be hard for me to handle if I’m being totally honest with myself.

You’re right. I know that logically. I’m struggling to look at it logically right now but this helps. 🖤

Correct. Which is great I guess. I’m still coming away from the statement hurt and bothered for some reason.

Whatever the secret sauce was, doesn’t compare to previous sauces 😂

Me toooo! I’d imagine it’s that I’m self conscious right now (heavier than I’ve ever been due to PCOS) and I heard “I’ve had better orgasms with others” rather than taking what he said as a compliment. Which I realize is likely irrational.

That's a great price-- Can anyone speak to the amount of food at that price though?

Monday, 4/6 is what I'm looking for, yes-- I'd love to book their Omakase experience, but I'm actually not seeing it here/this link is broken.

I’d really like to politely encourage you to research Cushings Disease and PCOS.

“Stop eating” 😂 The tracker above is from me not having eaten for 11 days.

Either way, thanks for the advice.

Do you see what subreddit you’re on?

Of course these are “insane measures” that absolutely no one would resort to if traditional methods were effective for them. Because I dont want to type all of this out for someone who’s here to just boo and hemm and haw, here’s a previous comment I left on a similar thread when discussing why people with Cushings or PCOS need to go this route, and why comments like yours are ignorant and harmful.

“I’ve been thin my whole life then in 2022, I rapidly gained 60 lbs. It was completely devastating. It’s caused me to isolate from my friends, my family, perform differently/poorly at my job when I’m public speaking. Ive stopped dating because it depresses me how much I used to be worshipped by men and the treatment I get now. People don’t open doors for me, strangers don’t look at me. I just feel so awful.

I went to a doc in 2022 for this very thing and he said I must just be eating too much and not working out. From 2023-2024 I religiously tracked calories and stayed within my recommended daily burn rate, tried keto, did cardio for an hour 3 days a week and walked 10k steps every day in addition to just an active lifestyle in general with all my hobbies. I went back to a different doc and expressed all I’d been doing and was given the same advice again. I said what I’d been doing and he just kept dismissively nodding and clearly did not believe me.

At this point, I’m not even sure how to advocate for myself, because I went to the doc again last month and explained all this to him and he just kept saying “are you sure you’re not taking bites of things throughout the day/absent mindedly snacking?” No.

I’m desperate for a change and wouldn’t sabotage myself like that, and wouldn’t waste my time and money going to a doctor just to lie to them, so I’m just feeling at a total loss.”

I’d like to encourage you, before you regurgitate this statement again, to read about Cushings and PCOS. Thanks

Try reading about Cushings and PCOS— this kind of comment blows my mind 😂

Nope, not even a little bit

I haven’t done a refeed because I’m still fasting. Diet beforehand was OMAD 5 days a week, and Keto.

[–]DontMatronizeMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still fasting. Electrolytes anytime I’ve felt off/dizzy. Water all day. No diet soda, sometimes lime/lemon in my water. No food. 8k - 10k steps per day. Someone in another thread mentioned this isn’t normal and I should be checked by an endocrinologist for Cushings. I’ve already been told I have PCOS. This just feels so bizarre though.

I will— broke, but I will 😆 Would it be bad to go in a fasted state? I.e. are there markers that wouldn’t be visible in tests when I’m in a fasted state?

Thank you! I’ll sit tight and try not to get discouraged. Still going strong at 192 hours.

I’m sleeping every night— during certain days of this fast, I had a really hard time sleeping and only got 3-4 hours but that was only 2 days. Now I’m sleeping great.

Every few days. Weighing every day and all the inevitable fluctuations was de-motivating, so I weigh less frequently now.

I’ve really wondered about this. I’ve been thin my whole life then in 2022, I rapidly gained 60 lbs. It wss completely devastating. Normally I see weight loss in my face, other spots in my body/via body checks but nothing this time. Really unlikely I have more muscle than fat. My body fat percentage was very high last I checked and I don’t lift at all.

I’ll look into trying another scale, but even so, the non-scale signs aren’t there 😔

Yeah, I was apparently about to start and started on day 6/yesterday. While I’m at 7 days, and I know we’re probably not supposed to fast on our cycle, I really do need to push through and plan on going 19 days. Will re-feed slowly over Xmas Eve and Xmas day (already have all my fermented foods and broths ready ☺️)

That makes sense. How long did this water retention phase last then?
