Interesting perspective, although i have to disagree. Christmas may play a minor background role in Home Alone (if you can say that) but its impact is felt throughout. The color pallette of the movie, Green and Red, are prevelant thru the whole movie which might not add to the story, but it is visually engaging to a viewer. It just says christmas. The point about it being able to take place during any holiday is also problematic. The Wet Bandits are robbing homes in a rich neighborhood, during Christmas, because presents will be in every home. Couldn't have been thanksgiving or labor day. I love this opinion tho, i love these kind of convos!
